Bab 10: Time measurement
After feeling satisfied with his knife-throwing skills. He checked himself, although there weren't any changes to his bones. His clothes were another case, they were watered and a few cuts. So, he decided to change his clothes. As he decided to keep the original clothes in a safe place.
He searched for new clothe in the many cabins and decided to wear only brown trouser leaving the rest of his body bare-boned.
After dealing with that he decided to address one of his major problems.
That was 'Time'
He didn't have any method of discerning time. There were no clocks he could find on the ship.
Neither, was there a day and night cycle for him to note down the time daily.
So he decided to form a way to calculate the time roughly.
He went to the edge of the ship and sat in the gunwale observing the ocean.
He had previously searched for some things he might need and gathered them in the deck,
The things he gathered, were mainly a kitchen knife and a long and thin rope.
As he was observing the ocean, he could barely see the shadow of what seemed to be, a school of fish. Aiming one of the kitchen knives he threw it at the tip of one of the shadows.
Due to the proficiency, he had gained from throwing a knife. He accurately hit his target.
As he had specifically targeted the head of the fish it died without any struggle.
After the fish was killed it quickly started to sink, But having expected that he began pulling the rope which he had tied to the handle of the knife.
Having pulled the knife up he observed the fish with a knife stuck near his head. The fish was decently big, about as long as his arm.
He retrieved the knife from the fish and carried the fish to the front of the deck.
He then pinned the fish to the top of the gunwale using an arrow, so it wouldn't fall back into the ocean.
After completing this task he left the fish to rot. Judging by his estimation it would take about a month for the fish to decompose to his skeleton.
Normally, it would usually take a lot less time than that for flesh and tissue to decompose. But considering the cold environment around him as well as the superior body of the beings living in this world. He estimated around a month for the fish to decompose till the bone.
Having made a way to measure time. He decided to once again return to training.
After an unknown amount of time, the fish had finally decomposed to the bone. During the time it took for the fish to decompose Gem had mastered how to use the bow somewhat properly. He was able to accurately hit a target, all the time. He could even hit the target while running.
Repeating his previous action he once again hunted a fish and repeated the action.
Once only the bone was left he picked a piece of it and threw it in an empty cabin. He also gathered the remaining bone in a separate room for future use.
After three months
He had finally mastered all available weapons. He couldn't do something as grand as creating flying slashes with swords or anything but he could easily cut through bones. He realized it was quite comfortable while wielding a sword as Brook was also a swordsman.
Now that he had basic mastery of all the weapons he decided to master his devil fruit.
Initially, Brook thought that the power of yomi yomi no mi was to just revive a person but later after the time skip it was discovered by him that he could use various soul powers. Such as ice, attaching broken bones, existing as a soul, and dominating and scaring weaker souls.
But now that he knew about these power. He decided to train and hone them properly.
