Bab 36: Mystery

"So, this is where I will be spending the next four years of my life." Asher muttered as he inspected the interior of his new room.

The guards were busy moving in his belongings into the room. In truth, Asher's important properties were already inside the storage ring. But to keep the ring a secret, Asher had to leave behind some for public view. After all, a space ring was really expensive and rare to the point that it couldn't even be found in the Great Dawn kingdom as well as a majority of the 13 kingdoms; if it was found in his hands, Asher would end up being the target of everyone around him. The rarity of space rings was the reason that the other young masters and mistresses all had a carriage or two accompanying them. The extra carriages carried nothing more than their personal belongings.

"Be good, you hear me?" Ol' Fang spoke in the tone of a reprimanding uncle rather than a family butler.

"Yes, uncle." Asher replied with a slight smile on his face.

From what Ol' Fang had told him, classes wouldn't start till a week, which happened to be when the entrance exams would be over. However, as a noble-born, Asher didn't need to participate in the entrance exams.

The First Dawn Academy catered to admit and train both blue-borns(nobles) and regular people. However, as it was a well-known fact that right after the Ceremony of Confirmation -at seven years of age-, nobles usually have their children undergo training at either seven, eight or nine years of age. Compared to the training young lowborns received, the training of noble children was more orthodox and orderly, after all, the said individuals had a variety of resources available to them as well as qualified teachers to guide them. So, it was very common for noble children to be much stronger than plebeians at the same age. Even the middle-class born weren't up to their level.

Since both groups had a large gap in strength and noble-born had already received prior ethical training, there was no reason to let them participate in the entrance exams which was meant to separate the weak from the strong amongst the commoners. So, every noble-born was granted entry into the academy without the need of participating in the entrance exams on two conditions. The first was that they had to have been recommended by a noteworthy individual in the family; someone of elder-rank or even the family head himself. The second was that the said child had to have at least a cultivation level of the Early Human stage.

This was to prevent a massive influx of children from noble families into the school as the school only aimed at training the best of the best, be it from nobles or commoners. If a noble child who couldn't fulfil both criteria wanted to enter the academy, he or she would have to do so by participating in the entrance exams.

Asher, having just broken through to the Human stage and being the only son of Duke Arnhaunt, was able to easily fulfil both conditions and arrive at this juncture.

'In 3 days, most of the noble-borns would have arrived. Getting information would be easier with more people available. So till then, I might as well use every time I have to improve on my strength.'

Ever since reincarnating into this body, Asher had always felt weird in it. Even though he was attuned to it already, that feeling still existed in his mentality. This was the result of having lived in the body of a pseudo-god level being for a few million years and suddenly being stuck in the body of a powerless little child. Hence, his hunger for power was always pushing Asher to train more.

While he might have already transcribed some cultivation manuals of his previous world to suit this one, Asher still lacked training resources and there was still the problem of his body's physique. Nonetheless, the ex-Celestial Emperor was not willing to give up for such a reason.

Apart from that, Asher felt that there was more to the Chaos-Origin body, and it should still be powerful even in this world. This was a legendary physique that was hailed as a body beyond the heavens' will, the physique of a true god. If just a change in the energy system made it useless, then there was no way it would be carrying such a description. He believed that as long as he understood his physique better and unravelled the secrets behind it, the body would reveal its magnificence, and he would rise above his peers in a grand manner.

As for why he had his suspicion, it had to do with the object now in his hands.

A blue crystal that gave off a mesmerizing feeling was seated in the middle of Asher's palm. This was a magic crystal, and one of the lowest quality at that. The reason for the low quality, despite the Arnhaunt family owning a magic crystal mine, was because anything of higher quality would destroy his meridians. As for how Asher realized that his body was special, he noticed that the speed he refined mana was faster than what he had been told.

A null body was supposed to have difficulties in absorbing and refining mana. Absorbing was the process of taking foreign mana -from the atmosphere or training resources- into one's body whereas refining was the process of converting that absorbed mana into one's possession. Asher refined mana faster than a null body should, but he absorbed mana at the same rate as one. This was quite strange, and it was the reason why he felt that the Chaos-Origin body had secrets he had yet to discover.

Five hours after Asher had managed to settle in, a commotion broke out in front of the building he was in.

The dormitory area of First Dawn Academy was made of a few identical large four-story buildings with a wide width. Each building had more than 60 rooms which could accommodate 4 individuals. In other words, each building could hold 240 students and there were five such buildings labelled building A, B, C, D, and E. Asher's room was number 27 building C and had a window that could allow one to view the front lawn of the building.

As the commotion got louder, Asher had to quit his training to see what was going on.
