In the Great Hall, the playful wrestling of the Weasley twins brought laughter from the people around them.
Albert glanced at them and quietly moved to an empty spot, pretending not to know the two pranksters. He turned his notebook over, immersed in the benefits of the newly acquired skill, "Potion Mastery."
Lee Jordan sat down beside Albert and asked, "What were you thinking just now?"
"I returned the gold card to Hertock and I'm curious about the reward he sent me," Albert casually replied while flipping through the notebook.
"I thought you didn't care about the rewards," Lee Jordan said, surprised. In his impression, Albert wouldn't care about others' rewards.
That's true! Then...
Lee Jordan suddenly realized that Albert was diverting the topic.
Just then, a tawny owl flew over and dropped a small package into Albert's lap.
"Look, it's here," Albert said with a smile.
Lee Jordan: "..."
Albert had just mentioned the reward, and now an owl delivered it to him.
"What's here?" Angelina also came over and heard Albert mentioning something. She asked casually.
"A reward," Albert shook the package in his hand. He naturally knew what was inside, but he still opened it right there. Inside was a folded piece of parchment and a glass vial filled with a golden liquid.
"What is this?"
Seeing the golden liquid inside the vial, Lee Jordan widened his eyes. He had never seen this color of potion before.
"It should be Felix Felicis," Albert said without hesitation. "Also known as the Liquid Luck. There's probably enough for two spoonfuls in there, and the effect should last for a whole day."
"Felix Felicis?"
The twins, who were wrestling just a moment ago, also stopped and crowded around to see the legendary Liquid Luck.
"What's Felix Felicis?" Angelina looked at the vial of golden liquid with confusion.
"So, this is the famous Liquid Luck?" Fred took the Felix Felicis from Lee Jordan's hand, examined it carefully, and pretended to drink from it, "I really want to take a sip and try it out."
"Who gave it to you?" George couldn't help but ask.
"Hertock. I returned his property, and this is his thank-you gift," Albert explained simply.
"It's so enviable. Your luck is already good enough, and now you're going to drink Felix Felicis? Your luck will explode!" George took the vial back from Fred and handed it to Albert again. The latter took it and put it in his pocket.
"Felix Felicis doesn't really bring true luck. It significantly enhances various abilities of the drinker, making them think more clearly and things go smoothly," Albert explained while reading the letter, "In a way, its effects can be considered as bringing luck. Unfortunately, drinking it excessively is toxic."
"Excessive? And you still want to drink more!" Everyone stared at Albert, feeling that this guy was too daring. He already had good luck, and now he wanted to drink Felix Felicis regularly?
"It's just a small vial!" Angelina reminded him.
"There's no need to drink it all at once. A small sip will probably last two to three hours. Besides, I'll brew it myself in the future," Albert said, "When I'm successful, you all will have a chance to try it."
"But won't you get poisoned if you drink too much?" Lee Jordan pretended to grab his throat and acted like he was dying, "Didn't you say Felix Felicis is difficult to brew, and if done wrong, it could become a deadly poison?"
"Trust me," Albert smiled. "If I can have a little every half year, life will be much better."
"That's true." George mumbled, "But I thought you'd say you'll sell it for Galleons."
"Forget it, don't always think about money," Albert stood up, ready to put the Felix Felicis back in the dormitory. Carrying it around was risky; he might accidentally break the vial or lose it, and he didn't want to end up crying in the bathroom.
"Oh, by the way, do you think we could use Felix Felicis to find... the secret treasure hidden in the Forbidden Forest?" Fred brought up the events from a few months ago while in an empty corridor.
"Why haven't you given up on this yet?" Albert frowned, looking at Fred and warning him, "Don't you forget that you almost ended up in the belly of an Acromantula?"
"Last time, our luck wasn't so good. But this time, with the Felix Felicis and proper preparations..." George also had some ideas. "And, as long as we learn spells to deal with spiders, the three of us..."
"You three? Damn it, you're planning to exclude me." Lee Jordan waved his fist in annoyance, wanting to punch someone. "Besides, didn't you say the treasure map was thrown into the Forbidden Forest by Albert? Without the map, how are you going to find the secret treasure?"
"Believe what Albert said? Even if he did throw the treasure map in the forest, he can definitely find a way to retrieve it," Fred looked at Lee Jordan like he was an idiot.
"What kind of look is that?" Lee Jordan protested.
"A look for an idiot," Fred admitted frankly.
"Ah, after living in the same dormitory as Albert for a semester, you still don't understand his personality?" George added.
The truth was that what Albert said might be true, but how much of it was actually true was unknown. He was exceptionally skilled at creating so-called "facts."
"Forget it. I want to live a few more years. I don't want to venture into the forest again. What if I get dragged away and eaten by an Acromantula?" Albert shook his head, rejecting the idea.
"You could just catch them and sell them for money," Fred teased with a smirk.
"The treasure map is really still in your possession?" Lee Jordan suddenly asked.
"I told you, I threw it in the forest," Albert replied.
"You must have found it again," Fred rolled his eyes. "Just use the Summoning Charm."
"I can't," Albert shrugged, indicating that he couldn't do it. In fact, he really couldn't perform the Summoning Charm.
"You can't?" The three of them looked at each other, not believing his nonsense.
As they rounded the corner, they stopped discussing the topic further. There was someone coming towards them, Professor Smith.
Upon seeing Albert, Professor Smith said, "Anderson, I was just looking for you."
"What can I do for you, Professor Smith?" Albert asked.
"The research on Boggarts has yielded results," Professor Smith said with excitement, "Follow me, I'll show you the pictures. This is a major discovery. Why didn't anyone think of using this method to study Boggarts before?"
"See you later," Albert said to his roommates.
The three of them exchanged glances and watched Albert walk away with Professor Smith. The topic shifted to Professor Smith's recent research on Boggarts, and they speculated about what the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor had discovered.
Albert followed Professor Smith and curiously asked, "Did you capture the entity of the Boggart?"
"Yes, I did," Professor Smith opened the wooden door and invited Albert into his office.
"I captured the physical form of the Boggart through the camera. It is a constantly rotating mist. Boggarts do not have a true physical form," Professor Smith announced as he took out a few photos. The pictures showed a constantly rotating substance that looked like mist. "I plan to publish this major discovery in the 'Mysteries' magazine."
"Congratulations, Professor Smith," Albert said with a smile.
"No, congratulations to you too, Anderson. You played a part in this. Without you, I wouldn't have made this discovery. So, I plan to credit your name as well," Professor Smith smiled. "This is your idea. If not for you, I wouldn't have found this secret. So, I'm going to add your name to the paper."
"No need, Professor. This is your achievement," Albert politely declined. "If you feel guilty about benefiting from my idea, you can teach me some useful spells or alchemy instead."
"Well..." Professor Smith's expression seemed a bit strange. He nodded and said, "Your alchemy skills are only average, but I can still give you some help in that area."
"That would be great," Albert said. "It's a pity that Hogwarts doesn't have a professor for Alchemy."
"This subject requires a high starting point," Professor Smith explained. "In Britain, there aren't many people who value alchemy, and the books about alchemy in the Hogwarts library are not very useful. Generally, you need to wait until after graduation to study it on your own."
He suddenly said, "I'll still add your name to the paper. It's not a good idea to take credit for someone else's work."
Albert was quite surprised but no longer refused Professor Smith's decision.
"Oh, by the way, I heard you guys want to enter the Forbidden Forest and look for some secret treasure?" Professor Smith suddenly frowned and warned, "That's not a good idea. The Forbidden Forest is dangerous, and don't get fooled by any treasure maps."
"Uh, we know," Albert nodded.
"That's what the Weasley brothers were talking about?" Professor Smith asked skeptically.
"Last semester, Fred and George were fooled into the forest by a treasure map. I'll make sure they abandon that idea and won't fall for it again," Albert explained briefly.
"That's good," Professor Smith nodded. "Although the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest are not dangerous, the deeper parts are very perilous. Don't be foolish enough to take unnecessary risks. No number of lives will be enough to spare."
"I know, then I'll take my leave." Albert bid farewell to Professor Smith. As he was about to leave, he suddenly turned back and asked, "Can I have a copy of that photo?"
"Of course," Professor Smith agreed without hesitation. He had several more copies of the photo on his desk.
Albert tucked the photo into the pocket of his robe and then left the office.
"Secret treasure, huh?" Professor Smith watched Albert's retreating figure, his eyes glinting with curiosity.
...
After leaving Professor Smith's office, Albert didn't see Fred and the others. He placed the Felix Felicis in a wooden box and secured it in his drawer, casting a protective charm on it to ensure no one could open the drawer. At least, most students wouldn't be able to do so.
In the drawer, along with some personal notes, his camera, a previously crafted protection bracelet, and the... secret treasure map.
Venturing into the Forbidden Forest? Albert did have such thoughts. With the Felix Felicis, his chances of success increased. However, he didn't intend to go immediately; it was too risky. He had to become stronger, strong enough to enter without any danger to his life.
Thrilling adventures were interesting, but preserving one's life was undoubtedly more important.
As Albert was about to put the map back in the drawer, the door suddenly opened, and Fred and the others walked in, catching him holding the map.
"See? I told you the map was definitely still in Albert's possession," Fred wore a look of 'I knew it.'
Albert calmly put the map back in the drawer and cast a charm on it before shrugging at them. "Before we are fully prepared, don't venture deep into the Forbidden Forest. Wait until I'm ready, and then we can go together."
The three of them exchanged glances and couldn't help but burst into laughter.
"See? I told you Albert also likes adventures," George patted Albert on the shoulder. "When are you going to teach us the spell to deal with spiders?"
"If you want to safely enter and exit the Forbidden Forest to look for treasure, the 'Spider Retreating' spell won't be enough," Albert shook his head. "Even if you learn that spell, sooner or later, you'll still be eaten by the spiders."
"Why?" Lee Jordan looked puzzled.
"Because Acromantulas are best at ambushing," Fred explained. "In the forest, once they successfully ambush you, you're done for."
"Then why are you still alive?" Lee Jordan said unkindly.
"Last time, the group of Acromantulas didn't intend to kill us all at once," George explained. "But this time might be different."
Pointing at Albert, he continued, "Last time, when Albert saved us, he knocked down a large group of Acromantulas. I think they must hold a grudge against us."
"Hold a grudge?"
"I researched Acromantulas. They can speak and possess intelligence," Fred explained. "Next time, if we encounter them again, they'll... probably just kill us outright."
"It seems you guys aren't just blindly rushing into the forest to meet your doom," Albert said, feeling somewhat satisfied. If Fred and George were only blindly rushing into the Forbidden Forest, then he'd have to reconsider their partnership.
