Bab 69: How Monsters are Born

As Marcus walked between the guards and crowd of people, he hung his head low and his shoulders drooped down so much so that it seemed he was depressed. However, this wasn't the case.

Surviving off of nothing but killing and absorbing cockroaches for days on end hardly acted as proper sustenance for the young man, and because of this, he found it increasingly difficult to keep up with the guards' pace.

Due to this he was often shoved forward with a boot or the dull side of a sword.

Often times he'd fall over and the guards would have to pick him up and repeat the process all over again..

When they did this, they weren't polite either. The guards would smack Marcus in the back of the head for slowing them down and sometimes spit on him for causing them to dirty their hands by touching such a filthy creature.

Marcus showed no visible reaction to the guards, and this only made them angrier.
