Bab 67: Reconissance
Just as the guard exited the cell, a small apparition of darkness flew right behind him.
When he opened the door, the small-black apparition exited with the guard, completely unbeknownst to him.
As this happened, the omen, who still lie motionlessly in the cell, closed his eyes to rest, completely ignoring the dark presence that flew out with the man.
He figured he'd need as much sleep as he could get in preparation for what was to come, and so Marcus didn't bother with anything for the remainder of his stay.

In another far more lively location within the Uceris kingdom, people were busily moving about.
The scenery was just as one would expect from a kingdom as large and powerful as Uceris. It's citizens moved along the numerous roads within the city shoulder to shoulder. Though the city was humongous, it seemed that the area near this particular market was crowded and left little room for one to maneuver.
The only places that offered any sort of respite from the steadily moving crowd were near the various shops and stores that were located on either side of the street.
Semi-circles would form around these stores with people bartering for whatever goods and resources they could find.
With so many people in constant communications with one another, conversations took hold, and because of this, rumors were also talked about and spread rather quickly.
"Hey did ya' hear about what happened," one man spoke to another.
"What are ya' blabbering about now, I'm tryna get food for the wife, not listen ta' needles chatter."
The second man, who wasn't interested in talking much, was busy trying to barter for some goods from a merchant he was speaking with.
"To hell with that woman! All she does is nag ya anyway!"
"What'd you say?!"
The second man turned from the merchant to address the one that had been speaking about his wife.
"A-Ah... Uh! Calm down I ain't mean it, just wanted ya' to listen."
The second man still eyed the first angrily. Had they not been friends who knows what may have happened.
"Look, I heard they're executing another one of dem omen right here in the middle of of district 6."
The man, who'd been shopping for his wife, had his face contort in anger and annoyance.
"So what! They kill one of em' almost once or twice a month now. What's the big deal this time?"
"No no. Listen, this one apparently was one that had some type of relationship with the Styx family.
This caught the attention of the first man and several others nearby also perked their ears up at the juicy gossip.
The first man abruptly stopped his conversation with the merchant to listen, to the latter's dismay.
"There executing people from 'that' family too now?"
The second man smirked once he noticed he'd gotten his friends attention, as well as a few of those around him. He was enjoying the attention, so he made sure to keep it by any means necessary.
"Yep, two gorgeous ladies from the Dawn family were even there to stand up to the Styx family's patriarch. They weren't even Imperiums either."
To this, their were more than a few gasps and awes, and the second man was eating up the attention.
The first man, who was the friend of the person speaking, eyed his friend doubtfully after hearing this.
"Ain't no way two people not even at the Imperium rank stood up to that mad man. You're pulling my leg aintcha'?"
"Nah I swear. I-I was even there to watch. The bastard had no choice but to run off with his tail between his legs cuz he musta been scared of the Dawn family's retaliation.
"Also the little arrogant omen he was trying to protect immediately shut down when he realized he was all alone.
"You shoulda seen it. The little monster skipped the line and everything and even disrespected the guards at the gate, but once those two ladies scared off the patriarch, he started groveling and begging for his life."
At this point, the loud mouthed man was just exaggerating what happened but he didn't care. The way he saw it, what he was saying was close enough to the truth that it didn't make a difference, and the people listening ate it up.
However, no one would have ever thought just how much this small rumor would spread and the consequences that would be brought forth with it.
For now though, this wasn't important and the citizens of Uceris would continue to spread said rumor all the way until it reached the 6 noble families of Uceris and eventually even the king himself.
While the man continued to preach to the masses about the greatness of the Dawn family and the cowardice of the Styx family, a small black crow, that was perched on a window ceil of a nearby building, flew off into the air.
It seemed to have been observing the crowd and the man speaking and once it finished doing so, it flew off. No one seemed to notice the bird or no one seemed to care, so the seemingly unassuming crow flew unhindered all throughout the supposed district 6 of the Uceris kingdom.
As the sun drew further and further towards the horizon, the crow continued to fly as far as it could around the kingdom of Uceris, and even after spending most of its day flying, the crow didn't even cover half of district 6.
Though it must have seen enough because once the sun had fallen and the day became night, the crow headed back from whence it came.
Quite a bit further out, away from all the hustle and bustle of district 6, the crow flew down towards a tunnel. As it grew closer and closer to the tunnel however, the space surrounding it fluctuated as if a barrier of some kind stood between it and the rest of Uceris.
It didn't seem to be a physical barrier to keep one out either because the crow passed through it with ease and when it did, the tunnel transformed into a single black-metallic door with a weird symbol engraved on it.
The crow didn't get a good look at the symbol as it was only focused on whatever was within the door, and once it landed in front of it, the black bird cocked its head to the side in confusion.
It seemed that it didn't know how it would get inside.
When it had first left this place, it did so due to someone else opening the door for it, but now that there was no one to do such a thing. the tiny crow was at a loss.
Although, eventually the crow seemed to notice something as it crept closer and closer to the door in front of it. Once it reached the front of it, the crow dipped its head to the bottom of said door and as soon as the front of its beak touched the tiny bit of darkness leaking from behind the door, it vanished.
Nothing stood in front of the door now, but within the space behind the door was a different story. Somehow the bird had bypassed the door behind it and had now made it inside.
After flying a dozen or so meters, a familiar cell door greeted the crow.
The door was the same one Marcus was being held behind and it managed to fly right through the small rectangular whole within.
Once it reached Marcus, the blindfolded boy spoke.
"Good job."
The crow cocked its head sideways at Marcus's reply. It didn't seem to understand what Marcus was saying, but this didn't matter because soon it flew right into Marcus's chest and vanished. Marcus closed his eyes after this and only after an hour had passed did he reopen them and speak.
"Good."
With that final word, the boy once again closed his eyes to rest and prepare for his execution that would be held tomorrow.
At this point it was hard to tell if he'd surrendered himself to his fate or if he just didn't care.
Nevertheless, whatever the case may be, only one of two things could happen tommorow.
Either Marcus lived...
...Or he died.
