Bab 30: the Brotherhood's Offer
Nick Fury, who was watching the live broadcast at the headquarters of S.H.I.E.L.D., set down his cup and classified Yihu's danger level on par with the Hulk, contemplating the possibility of controlling him. He turned to Natasha and whispered,
"Have you heard that he has a girlfriend? Bring her here!"
"Yes, Director!"
As Natasha mobilized the team, a Hydra member who had infiltrated the squad reported the operation. Alexander Pierce, upon viewing Yihu's combat footage in the S.H.I.E.L.D. database, combined with the reports from his subordinates, immediately guessed Nick Fury's plan. After issuing coordinating orders for the operation, Pierce sat in his chair, gazing at the ceiling with deep contemplation. Since stepping down from his position, he felt that the world had become increasingly dangerous, and he sensed that he was falling behind the times.
However, Pierce quickly dismissed his thoughts and regained his firm resolve. Three teams of ten people each arrived at Yihu's residence. Jessica, who was resting, heard an explosion and immediately became alert. Seeing white smoke seeping through the door crack, she instinctively jumped out of the window to escape.
As soon as she landed on the lawn, gunshots rang out from all directions. Jessica endured the pain and ran towards a distant alley, as her compassionate nature prevented her from taking lives, leaving her no choice but to flee.
Natasha and her team followed closely behind. As they passed by a law firm, Jessica instinctively glanced up and cursed herself for bringing the enemy to Matt's location.
Sensing Jessica's departure, Matt frowned. Listening to the heartbeats of Natasha and the others, Matt stood up, changed into his Daredevil costume, and swiftly headed in the direction of Jessica's escape.
After crashing through five walls, Jessica was grabbed by a tall man wearing a red T-shirt. Despite her extraordinary strength, she felt fragile like a baby in the face of the man's immense power. The Juggernaut sneered, turned around, and prepared to leave.
"Stop! Let her go!"
Matt Murdock, relying on his familiarity with the terrain, was the first to find Jessica. The Juggernaut, full of disdain, smiled and accelerated. In the blink of an eye, he stood in front of Matt, and his tremendous strength sent him flying.
Looking at the red dot deviating from the planned direction on the map, Erik furrowed his brow. Stepping on a steel plate, he flew towards the distance to investigate what had happened. Earlier, he had sent Mystique to gather information from S.H.I.E.L.D., and they informed him of a special operation related to a mutant. As soon as he heard the term "mutant," Erik became alert and prepared to personally intervene to rescue his fellow mutant, even if it meant dispatching the newly recruited Juggernaut.
Lying on the ground, Matt felt a sharp pain in his chest. As he listened to the footsteps approaching from afar, he struggled to stand up, crawled into a nearby alley, and hid. Natasha was the first to burst out through the shattered wall, looking at the damaged residence nearby, furrowing her brow. Although she felt that the figure didn't quite resemble Jessica, she took the lead and chased after.
"Let me go! Who are you?"
Jessica struggled relentlessly, annoying theJuggernaut. Subconsciously exerting more force with his right hand, Jessica let out a muffled groan as she felt her bones seemingly cracking.
The Juggernaut rampaged through, eventually falling into the sea. The cold water made him feel a sense of relief, causing his grip to loosen. Seizing the opportunity, Jessica exerted all her strength and broke free from his grasp. Just
as she was about to swim away from the behemoth and his jewelry, which had tightened around her, it suddenly contracted, lifting her into the sky.
Just as Jessica was about to struggle, she felt a surge of blood rushing inside her body. Erik controlled the helmet on the Juggernaut's head, suspending him in the air, and the three of them quickly moved away from the shore. Ten minutes later, Natasha stopped at the shore, looking at the azure seawater with a grim expression. She pressed her earpiece and whispered in a low voice, "Sorry, Director... We lost the target."
"I understand. Come back!"
Nick Fury hung up the phone with a grim face, cursing his subordinates for being useless. Just then, Hill lightly knocked on the door and said calmly, "Director, we detected a life fluctuation while excavating the Cosmic Cube in the Arctic..."
Nick Fury's eyes narrowed, and a name flashed through his mind. He spoke in a cold tone, "Classify this matter as top secret and immediately send someone to excavate!"
"Yes, Director!"
After Hill left, Nick Fury smiled. He had just thought that his subordinates were all useless, and then good news came to him from the heavens. Although Hill didn't explicitly mention the person's name, there was only one legendary hero who was with the Cosmic Cube at the time—Steve Rogers.
In an abandoned warehouse, Jessica glared angrily at the three people in front of her and asked in an unfriendly tone, "Who are you? Why did you capture me?"
"Hehe, you need to understand one thing. It was us who rescued you from S.H.I.E.L.D.," replied the icy voice of Mystique. Jessica was slightly stunned and gradually calmed down as she recalled her previous experience of being hunted. Seeing that she no longer struggled, Erik opened his palm, and the jewelry that had imprisoned Jessica slowly fell into his hand.
Jessica felt a little reluctant to see her newly purchased gold jewelry being taken away, but considering the other person's strange abilities, she thought that this loss was acceptable.
After a conversation, Erik explained his ideals to Jessica and invited her to join the Brotherhood. After a second of contemplation, Jessica shook her head and said in a low voice, "Thank you for saving me, but I don't want to join any Brotherhood!"
Seeing Erik's face turning colder, Mystique quickly stepped forward and said softly, "Right now, you're a huge trouble. You've drawn the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D., and no one except us will take you in!"
The image of Yihu appeared in Jessica's mind, and she shook her head firmly. She was about to say some inspiring words when her mouth was sealed with gold.
In the town, a beam of flame from the Destroyer destroyed a row of houses. Agent Coulson's smile slowly disappeared from his face, and he pursed his lips, ultimately swallowing the accusatory words.
Yihu put sif behind him and looked at Coulson with his head tilted. He said slowly, "This big guy is too powerful. I can't defeat him! You guys have fun!"
After saying that, without waiting for Coulson to respond, Yihu turned around and left . After testing his own strength, Yihu was ready to venture into other worlds, but before that, he had to go home and bring Elisa along.
Coulson watched Yihu's retreating figure, opened his mouth to say something, but Loki, controlling the Destroyer, didn't give him a chance. Faced with the beams of light shooting at him, Coulson's heartbeat accelerated, and he was pulled by Barton, who was beside him, as they rolled and crawled to avoid the attack.
After venting his anger, Loki shifted his gaze to sif and the others. Thor pushed sif, who was supporting him, aside and walked slowly to the Destroyer. He spoke in a low voice, "Brother, I don't know why you're doing this. If I did something wrong, I apologize to you here. But killing these people won't benefit you in any way. So, kill me and end all of this..."
Looking at Thor's heavy gaze, Loki hesitated for a moment. He stopped the concentrated heat energy beam in front of the Destroyer's mask, turned around, took a step, and then, under Thor's grateful gaze, he punched him.
According to Loki's estimation, this punch would be enough to make his brother die with dignity.
