Bab 26: Extraterrestrial Intrigue
To retaliate against Yi Hu's action from the previous night, Nick Fury gave him free publicity. William Stryker, who is in charge of mutant research, became highly interested in Yi Hu. Recently, he has been studying Sentinel robots to eliminate all mutants.
Meanwhile, Jane Foster, driving in pursuit of the Rainbow Bridge, accidentally hits Thor with her car. Darcy Lewis steps out of the car and whispers to Jane Foster, "Legally speaking, you are mostly responsible for this!"
"Please, I beg you, don't die!" Jane Foster, now devoid of her previous excitement, squats down to carefully assess Thor's condition. Upon realizing that he is relatively unharmed, she breathes a sigh of relief.
"Heimdall, I know you can see! Open the Rainbow Bridge!" Thor shakes himself off and shouts at the sky, standing up. Lewis, startled by the outburst, pulls out a stun gun.
"Where are we? Alfheim? Nidavellir?"
"This is New Mexico." Lewis holds up the stun gun, a bit panicked, and exclaims, "And I have this stun gun to threaten you, Thor, the God of Thunder."
Thor looks at Louise as he approaches and sneers, "Are you planning to use that little thing to intimidate me, the mighty Thor?"
Lewis, seeing Thor walking towards her, instinctively pulls the trigger. A loud electric crackling sound echoes through the open plain.
Jane Foster and Professor Erik Selvig wear expressions of disbelief as they watch Lewis. They can't help but think that this situation, involving a car accident followed by an electric shock attack, is becoming increasingly difficult to explain.
"He scared me..."
Lewis gasped for breath, appearing excessively frightened. Professor Erik Selvig helps Thor into the car and speeds off to the nearest hospital. Just then, a meteor streaks across the sky and crashes forcefully into the ground, stirring up a cloud of dust.
As the three of them register at the reception desk, Thor slowly regains consciousness in the hospital room. He looks at the man in the white coat approaching him and sternly admonishes, "How dare you attack the son of Odin!"
The physical abilities of ordinary Asgardians are two to three times that of Earthlings, not to mention Thor, who possesses royal bloodlines. Despite the presence of two doctors and three male nurses, they are still beaten to the ground. They can only shout for security while struggling to hold Thor against the wall.
"Even if you're fierce, you can't defeat..."
Before he can finish his sentence, the doctors inject him with a sedative, causing him to collapse. The next morning, as Yi Hu prepares breakfast, he hears a knock on the door and loudly calls out, "Jessica, come down and open the door!"
Jessica, observing the graceful figure outside the door, narrows her eyes and asks in a displeased tone, "Who are you looking for?"
"Of course, I'm looking for the owner of this place, little sister," Natasha says with a sly expression. The door, quickly closing, almost ruins her appearance. Yi Hu peeks out from the kitchen and asks in a low voice, "Who is it?"
"A salesman selling insurance," Jessica dismissively waves her hand, feeling annoyed. Yi Hu responds with an "Oh" and continues frying eggs. Suddenly, there is a sound from the door, and Natasha enters, casually tucking away her tools.
"I recall telling you not to disturb my life!" Yi Hu turns off the heat, takes off his apron, and wipes his hands. His voice is icy cold. Natasha pays no attention to his words and calmly says while sitting on the sofa,
"One million. Come with me to Puente Antiguo in New Mexico."
Yi Hu's eyes flicker slightly, hesitating whether or not to get involved in the conflicts of the Asgardian royal family. Jessica, beside him, perks up at the mention of one million and pokes Yi Hu's waist, gesturing for him to accept.
"Alright," Yi Hu nodded, his gaze fixed on Natasha until he received a notification of the payment on his wrist, then he smiled and declined Jessica's request to accompany him. The two of them headed to the S.H.I.E.L.D. building and boarded a plane to Old Bridge Town in New Mexico.
Meanwhile, Tony Stark arrived at Nick Fury's office and said somewhat helplessly, "That big guy refused my invitation and disappeared into the mountains."
"It's okay. As long as he's still in this world, he won't escape our surveillance," Nick Fury replied, pointing to the files in front of him in a flat tone. "What do you think of him?"
Stark picked up Yi Hu's file. He had previously checked the information about him but only found his previous job as a professional sleeper, with nothing else on the record. Frowning at the last line of the file that said "No record found," Stark asked, "You couldn't find anything either?"
"No," Nick Fury shrugged and replied heavily, "I suspect he's an extraterrestrial who entered illegally. The Men in Black don't have any record of his entry either."
Stark tossed the file on the table and quickly recalled the information he had seen in the past few days. He had always thought he had seen the full picture of the world, only to realize in the end that he had only scratched the surface.
"How do you plan to handle him?" Stark asked.
"I want to obtain spaceship technology and information about the universe from him," Nick Fury replied, supporting his head with crossed hands. The Men in Black possessed advanced technology but only provided a few primitive extraterrestrial ships for research.
If it weren't for the fact that the other party held a large number of cosmic resources and had the support of extraterrestrial races like the Zatarians, they would have been divided up by various countries long ago.
Natasha, looking at the leisurely Yi Hu, couldn't help but urge, "Hurry up! We're already an hour late."
Arriving at the temporary base, Coulson greeted them with enthusiasm and exchanged greetings. Yi Hu nodded lightly, not wanting to get too involved with S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel. He had come mainly to observe.
"We found an interesting hammer," Coulson said with a smile, quickly catching up to Yi Hu and speaking in a relaxed tone. "Do you want to take a look?"
"No need," Yi Hu shook his head, calmly looking at Coulson. He whispered, "Arrange a room for me. That thing is not something you can meddle with!"
A trace of seriousness flashed in Coulson's eyes. As expected, Yi Hu knew a lot of secret intelligence, just like what the Director had said. Despite using the most advanced equipment these days, they couldn't determine the material of the hammer.
"Mr. Yi seems to know about that hammer?" Coulson approached Yi Hu, guiding him while trying to gather information. Five minutes later, the two arrived at a room. Irritated by Coulson's attempt to squeeze in, Yi Hu said, "I don't like sharing a room with a man! That thing is called Mjolnir! Before you try to take someone else's belongings, think about whether you have the ability to withstand their wrath."
Seeing the closed door, Coulson put away his smile and quickly returned to the temporary command room to report this matter. If he had heard these words before joining S.H.I.E.L.D., he would have taken them as a joke. But Coulson no longer believed that humans were the only intelligent beings in the universe.
After receiving the news, Nick Fury's expression became serious. If Thor was real, then were Odin, Zeus, and other mythical figures also real? Thinking about the descriptions of those figures in mythology, Nick Fury felt a tingling sensation on his scalp.
Earth was not yet ready to face beings of this level. After reminding Coulson to be careful, Nick Fury called the phone of the Security Council to report the situation. He didn't want to shoulder this matter alone and needed to find allies.
