Bab 24: Academy Battle
"Stanley!" Banner shouted the boss's name as he walked downstairs and pushed open the door, coincidentally locking eyes with Betty. Seeing the shaking back door, Betty gently pushed Leonard aside.
They arrived at the back street, looking at the quiet alley. Betty softly said, "Bruce..." Looking at his restless girlfriend, Leonard wanted to step forward to comfort her, but she avoided him.
"Tell me the truth, Stanley. Has Bruce come back!"
Seeing Betty's serious expression, the owner of the pizza shop reluctantly nodded. Leonard, standing behind the two of them, had a sense of foreboding. He wanted to say something, but the words stuck in his throat because Betty had already run out of the restaurant. Her attitude made him realize that no matter what he said, he couldn't salvage this relationship.
Leonard's body swayed slightly as he leaned against the counter and sat down slowly. His mind was filled with mixed thoughts, and Stanley stood by, unsure of how to comfort this devastated man.
Banner walked in the rain, meeting Betty on a bridge as she was leaving in a car. Betty opened the door and ran toward Banner, her voice choked with sobs as she said, "Bruce, please... come back with me... I'm begging you..."
After a moment of embracing, Betty brought Banner back to her villa. She handed him a USB drive and said gently, "All the research data is inside here. I made a copy before they arrived. I hope it can help you..."
"Thank you..." Banner exclaimed in surprise as he took the USB drive and held it tightly in his hand. With this, he could go to Mr. Blue and seek his help in destroying the Hulk, allowing himself to live under the sunlight again.
Leonard, looking dejected, told General Ross about their situation. The next day, the two of them prepared to revisit the old place. Betty brought Banner to Culver University, retracing the paths they had taken before.
Although Banner wanted to leave quickly, he ultimately chose to accompany Betty for a while. Perhaps this would be the most beautiful memory of his remaining years. While they were discussing the past, several dark green figures appeared in a distant building.
"They're here..." Banner whispered softly. He tightly held onto Betty and spoke with a serious tone, "Listen! When the time comes, you must try to stay away from me as much as possible!"
After saying this, Banner turned around and started to run. Military vehicles rushed through the campus, and Banner escaped to the library, taking out the USB drive. After hesitating for two seconds, he swallowed it.
After a chase, Banner transformed into the Hulk. Betty looked bewildered at the transformed Banner. The special forces team, which had been on standby, immediately concentrated their firepower and started shooting at the Hulk. The 7.62mm bullets hitting the Hulk only caused him pain.
Seeing the situation, General Ross ordered Blonsky to test the Hulk's combat strength. Blonsky charged toward the Hulk with a grenade launcher in hand. Every grenade made the Hulk take a step back. Blonsky charged faster and faster, feeling his blood boiling inside.
With a leap, he smashed the empty grenade launcher at the Hulk and quickly drew his pistol to fire. The enraged Hulk roared and picked up two iron plates, smashing them forcefully at Blonsky.
The sound of the intense explosion attracted two students. One of them, a photography major, quickly took out his phone to record a video. General Ross had a smile on his face as he watched Blonsky's impressive performance. He felt that his Super Soldier program had great potential.
"Lead him to the sonic cannon over there!"
General Ross shouted loudly into his radio. Hearing the command, Blonsky quickly ran towards the designated location, yelling loudly, "Fire the cannon!"
After finishing speaking, he exerted force and leapt into the sky. In the next second, two powerful sonic waves swiftly passed beneath him. The tremendous force threw him away, and the Hulk's face showed a pained expression as he put down the iron plates and tightly covered his head, rolling back and forth in the sonic waves.
"Father, please... I'm begging you! You'll kill him!" Betty grabbed General Ross's arm and pleaded desperately. The Hulk, who was half-kneeling on the ground, immediately felt a surge of power within him upon witnessing this scene.
With both hands tightly gripping the iron plates, he firmly stepped forward. Using his left hand, he forcefully threw the iron plate, successfully destroying a sonic vehicle. He then leaped and landed heavily on the last sonic vehicle, looking up to the sky and howling. Seeing this, General Ross immediately called for armed helicopters, and Blonsky picked up the submachine gun from the ground and fired at the Hulk.
"Is that all you've got?" Blonsky slowly approached the Hulk, his confidence bolstered by successfully evading the Hulk's attacks earlier, relying on his extensive combat experience to defeat his opponent.
The Hulk swiftly kicked with his right leg, sending Blonsky flying five meters away, crashing heavily into a large tree. General Ross immediately ordered a retreat and prepared to command the armed helicopters remotely. Betty slowly approached the Hulk and whispered in his ear, "Bruce..."
The initially furious Hulk saw the menacing gleam in Betty's eyes, and in that instant, it slowly disappeared. Just then, an armed helicopter arrived above them, and the machine guns on both sides started firing bullets. Instinctively, the Hulk pounced towards Betty, shielding her in his embrace.
"No! Betty!" General Ross, witnessing this scene, grabbed the intercom and roared loudly, "Damn it! Cease fire!"
The Hulk threw the last piece of iron plate in his hand towards the helicopter, severing its rotor. The armed helicopter, engulfed in thick smoke, crashed heavily towards the Hulk. After a violent explosion, the Hulk, holding the unconscious Betty, stared intently at General Ross.
After a moment of hesitation, the Hulk carried Betty and ran towards a distance. Overcoming mountains and traversing valleys, they arrived at a cliffside and placed her in a cave entrance. When Betty woke up and let out a scream, it startled the Hulk, causing him to hit his head on the top of the cave.
Looking at the Hulk, who stood at the cave entrance like an angry child, Betty slowly walked out of the cave and held his thick fingers. The two of them returned to the cave, and the next morning, Banner returned to normal.
Yi Hu, who was eating noodles, brightened his eyes when he heard the news broadcast on the television. He looked up at the guy on the screen, whose whole body exuded an aura of forgiveness, and a smile appeared at the corner of his mouth as he whispered, "Elisa, look up the information on Thaddeus Thunderbolt Ross for me."
"Alright, sir."
Yi Hu watched as Elisa projected the brief introduction and, after a moment of consideration, he focused on a particular biochemist. Although there was another person with the same name and profession, the other guy looked too upright. Yi Hu vaguely remembered that Ross was a villainous character, so he immediately ruled out the handsome one.
"Send me his workplace!"
"Yes, sir!"
After finishing breakfast, Yi Hu immediately headed to the university where the person was located. The current Elisa was like a portable search engine. Although she didn't possess self-awareness like J.A.R.V.I.S., she was much better than Baymax. At least Alyssa wouldn't ask to examine his body while he was sleeping.
After four days of surveillance, Yi Hu finally caught sight of Banner. He watched the backs of the three individuals as they walked away, and a slight smile appeared at the corner of his mouth. He decided to bring sterns under his wing. Infected by Banner's blood, Sterns eventually possessed an intelligence a thousand times greater than an average person. Yi Hu intended to cultivate him into an all-around talent for his own research.
