As dawn approached, Daohua woke from her slumbers, and peering through the partially closed door, she saw a vague expanse of white. Without hesitation, she curled back into the cozy warmth of her quilt, leaving only half her head exposed outside.

With a 'creak', the door opened, and Wang Manman came in, shivering and carrying a pot of hot water. Seeing Daohua stirring, she immediately smiled and said, "Miss, are you awake?"

Daohua poked her head out of the quilt and asked, "Has it snowed?"

Wang Manman nodded, "It's been snowing for most of the night. The courtyard and the rooftops are covered with a thick layer of snow. Defu said that once October starts at Ningmen Pass, it often snows. Are you planning to get up now, Miss?"

Without any hesitation, Daohua shook her head and buried her head back into the quilt, "No, I want to sleep a bit longer."
