One voice, low and cautious, broke the silence.

"She's stalling. It's a trick to buy time."

"But what if she isn't?" another countered, a hint of curiosity in its tone.

"Bah!" scoffed the authoritative voice that had earlier called for her death.

"Still…" a third voice chimed in, contemplative now.

"It would be foolish to strike her down without at least hearing what she has to say. If she's lying, we can kill her anyway."
