Upon reaching home, Lin Wan found the living room deserted, and her assumption that her mother had already retired for the night proved correct. After a refreshing shower, she lay on the bed, wrapped in blankets. Sleep eluded her for an extended period, her mind consumed by memories of Xiao Yichen's face and the familiar sensation of his kiss.

Once, even the slightest embrace from him would set her heart pounding uncontrollably. Yet, now, that heartbeat was absent. It had vanished, never to return.
