Bab 169: The Hunting Night (Remember them? They trusted you, and you betrayed them!)

"Are you trying to seduce me?" Jenny asked with a teasing lilt in her voice as Hobe broke off their kiss.

Hobe's cheeks flushed with embarrassment at her question. He slightly distanced himself from Jenny and shook his head.

"No, I just got a little carried away," he said, his voice tinged with embarrassment.

Jenny chuckled, then sat down on the sandy beach, relishing the first snowfall and the increasingly icy sea.

"Come, sit," she invited, patting the space beside her.

Hobe settled next to Jenny, leaning back on his hands and slightly tilting his head to feel the snowflakes lightly peppering his face. The sensation was subtly cool and pleasant.

Thanks to certain modifications, the human body can withstand a range of temperatures, provided they aren't extreme.

"Do you want to hear a story?" Jenny asked as she playfully wiggled her toes.

Her nails, perfectly rounded and painted a vivid red, stood out against her pale skin.
