Bab 5: Chapter 5: Mizuki's Good Intentions

Hinata: "Naruto-kun!"

As the two talked more often and Naruto had already revealed his feelings, Hinata's courage grew a lot, at least she dared to wave at Naruto now.

Naruto: "Iruka-sensei, Hinata called me, I..."

Iruka floated past with a dark expression, "Go ahead..."

When even his own students started holding hands with girls, and he, their teacher, was still single... Ah! He wanted to die!

The two quietly found a place with no one around.

Hinata handed the replication scroll she bought to Naruto.

Does this count as exchanging tokens of affection?

Just thinking about it made her heart flutter with happiness.

The scroll was very small, about the length of a normal person's pinky finger, and the diameter of the tube was no thicker than a green bean.

Accompanying the scroll was a brief instruction manual.

As long as chakra was infused into it, the scroll would automatically extend and enlarge to the same size as the scroll to be copied, then a thin film would form on top to complete the replication.

Naruto made a mental note of this favor.

Before entering the exam room, Hinata said, "Naruto-kun, do your best today!"

Naruto: "Okay, Hinata, you too!"

Sigh... take all my energy, it's useless for me anyway...

The ninja arts exam consisted of each student being called to a separate classroom to perform ninja techniques and then being evaluated by the examiners.

Iruka: "Next, Naruto!"

Is it my turn?

Naruto stood up and subconsciously glanced at Hinata, who was also looking at him and making a very cute cheering gesture.

Naruto grinned.

Now comes the sad moment...

Entering the room for the test of the Clone Jutsu.

Iruka-sensei and Mizuki-sensei sat side by side at the front desk.

Today, Iruka was the examiner, and Mizuki was the assistant examiner.

Neatly arranged on the desk were the headbands of the Leaf Ninja.

Getting a headband meant promotion to Genin, which would bring a monthly allowance much higher than now. Additionally, completing missions would earn a bonus relative to the mission level.

A penny for a hero's life had just been staged. Naruto sincerely wanted to obtain this status.

Iruka: "This year's ninja arts exam subject is... the Clone Jutsu."

Sure enough, it's the Clone Jutsu.

With a very friendly smile, Mizuki looked at Naruto, "Naruto, please begin."

Naruto: "Okay."

Skillfully forming hand seals, "Clone Jutsu!"

"Boom!"

A clone appeared next to Naruto, but... it was a clone that looked like a withered eggplant.

It flopped onto the ground, and even Naruto himself felt like giving it a good beating.

Iruka: "Failed!"

Naruto took a deep breath and looked at Iruka-sensei.

Iruka's expression at this moment was very serious.

Naruto: "I'll continue to work hard."

At this point, Mizuki interjected, "At least Naruto managed to create one clone, let's let him pass."

Naruto looked at Mizuki.

At this moment, Mizuki's performance seemed quite sincere.

If he were still the naive Naruto from before, he might have been more inclined to agree with Mizuki and think that Iruka-sensei was being hard on him.

After all, the mentality of a brat was like this; they couldn't see the good that people who had sincerely invested a lot in them did, but they could easily be fooled by the false kindness of outsiders.

Iruka: "No! Other students can create at least three clones, Naruto can only create one, and it's not even useful, so he can't pass."

Switching perspectives, knowing the truth, and seeing the scene before him, Naruto couldn't feel any resentment towards Iruka-sensei.

Naruto lowered his head, "Iruka-sensei, I'll go down first."

However, even though he knew the outcome, he still felt uncomfortable in his heart.

Iruka: "Next, Hinata!"

Hinata walked out of the classroom and happened to meet Naruto.

She had also heard Iruka-sensei's words just now and couldn't help but look worriedly at Naruto, "Naruto-kun?"

Naruto: "Don't worry, everything will be fine, I will graduate from the Ninja Academy."

Hinata: "Okay! I believe in you, Naruto-kun."

Naruto: "Go take the exam now."

Hinata: "Okay."

Naruto didn't return to the classroom but walked outside alone, walking on the streets of Konoha.

He ignored the disgusted expressions of passersby.

In his eyes, the gazes of others had no meaning at all.

Because whether others respected him or looked down on him, that was their business. Han Xin could endure the humiliation, what did this little bit of ridicule matter to him?

However, what he couldn't understand was why the Third Hokage had to tell the village that he was the Nine-Tails.

Why establish a rule that only he couldn't know.

Why conceal his identity, to protect him?

To prevent the enemies of the Fourth Hokage from seeking revenge?

The Fourth Hokage sacrificed his own son for the village, couldn't he exchange the village's protection for himself?

Just afraid of attracting enemies, afraid of causing trouble to the village, let a child grow up under the gaze of everyone's strange eyes from a young age? Would your conscience not ache doing this?

Taking a deep breath, he looked up at the sky.

The clouds in the sky were so white, so high, so pure, and so leisurely.

A hint of envy inexplicably arose in his heart.

To be a carefree cloud, blown away by the wind and gradually dissipating, that kind of life was enviable.

"Naruto! So you're here, I was worried about you when I saw you leave school."

He's here?

Naruto turned around, and the face of the person in front of him, with a worried expression filled with pity, was Mizuki.

It's a pity about this expression, if it were Iruka-sensei, it would be much more vivid, right?

Or maybe Hinata, that kind and pure daisy.

Naruto lowered his head, "Mizuki-sensei, is there something you need?"

He wasn't very good at acting.

Or maybe he didn't want to show a pitiful expression in front of this person.

Mizuki: "Are you worried about failing the exam? Trust me, Iruka-sensei definitely isn't targeting you."

Naruto: "Hmm..."

Mizuki: "Come on, let's go somewhere else and chat, and then I'll tell you about Iruka's childhood."

Naruto: "Okay."

Mizuki took Naruto to a place where no one was around.

It was a high platform, from which all the buildings looked much lower.

Mizuki: "Actually, Iruka-sensei is just like

you, Naruto. He's an orphan too."

Mizuki began his performance.

Naruto nodded along.

After talking for a long time, he finally got to the point, "Naruto, do you want to pass the exam? There's a secret I want to tell you, if you succeed, you'll definitely pass the exam and graduate smoothly."

Here it comes!

He was already mentally prepared, but Naruto couldn't help but feel a little nervous at this moment.

This would be a test, and also an important turning point in his life. If he passed, he would have the opportunity to establish himself in this world. If he didn't, he would have to repeat a year at the Ninja Academy and endure the same meager allowance every day, enduring the malice on every street.
