Although her face remained partially obscured, Issei sensed a flicker of recognition. There was something familiar about this girl with long purple hair and an alluring figure. With a gentle gesture, he knelt down and gently pried her hands away from her face, making direct eye contact.
Her cheeks flushed scarlet, and she attempted to avert her gaze, overcome by embarrassment. However, she found herself unable to free her wrists from Issei's firm grip. The situation only exacerbated her humiliation.
"So, this is Fountain Girl," Irina confirmed, her voice laced with curiosity as she scrutinized the girl's discomfited state.
Xenovia, too, couldn't help but remark on the unexpected beauty of the self-proclaimed stalker. "For a creepy devil stalker, she's surprisingly attractive. I didn't anticipate that."
Issei studied her for a brief moment before breaking the silence. "So, you overheard our conversation, didn't you?"
Struggling to find her voice, the girl finally managed a timid response. "Yes...I'm sorry."
Acknowledging her presence, Issei continued, his tone softening. "Well, you went to great lengths to meet me, and now you have. May I know your name, Fountain Girl?"
She hesitated before replying, her voice barely above a whisper. "Ingvild."
Issei raised an eyebrow inquisitively, seeking further clarification. "Ingvild... What's your full name? Is that your first name or surname?"
She mustered the courage to answer, her fear evident. "It's my first name... My last name is Leviathan."
Issei's confusion deepened at her revelation. "Leviathan? Are you connected to the Sitri Family?"
"N-no... I'm actually related to the true Leviathan family. However, I am half-human, so I don't have any ties to the family or devils in general. I consider myself more human than devil," she explained, her voice tinged with vulnerability.
Curiosity sparked within Issei, prompting him to inquire further. "How have you managed to move around unnoticed in devil territory? And are you considered a stray?"
Ingvild nodded, her expression somber. "Yes, I am a stray. Technically, I've never had a master. I learned a long time ago how to conceal myself from other devils. Being half-human makes it easier for me to go unnoticed. They can only discern my true nature when they are in close proximity to me, and I always ensure to maintain a safe distance from the Student Council and the Occult Research Club."
A perplexed expression crossed Xenovia's face as she interjected, seeking clarification. "Hold on... You attend our school?"
Realization dawned on Issei as he recalled the mysterious letter in his shoe locker. "Ah, so that's why you left a letter for me. It all makes sense now."
"I deeply apologize if my actions embarrassed you, Issei Hyoudou. I never intended to cause you any distress," Ingvild humbly apologized, bowing her head in contrition.
Considering the situation, Irina crossed her arms, her voice laced with concern. "Issei, what should we do about her? She overheard our conversation..."
Pleadingly, Ingvild interjected, her voice filled with desperation. "I swear I won't breathe a word to anyone! I've kept all your secrets to myself, Issei-kun!"
Irina narrowed her eyes, crossing her arms in a defensive stance. "Issei-kun, huh? You seem rather familiar with him."
Caught off guard by the accusation, Ingvild stumbled over her words, her flustered state almost bringing her to tears. "Oh no! I-I didn't mean to... I..."
Stepping in to diffuse the tension, Issei reassured her. "It's alright. You can call me Issei if you want. In fact, you probably know me better than these two do. But I have to ask, what secrets of mine are you referring to exactly?"
"I already knew you were the Red Dragon Emperor... I also know that you enjoy training in the Dimensional Gap. That's where you were when your friends were kidnapped," she revealed, her voice tinged with a mix of admiration and understanding.
Ddraig chimed in, pointing out an observation. 'It seems she has witnessed your transformation with the Balance Breaker.'
Curiosity piqued, Issei probed further. "Why did you keep it a secret?"
Ingvild met his gaze, her eyes filled with empathy. "Because you didn't want anyone to know, and I can completely relate to your desire to keep your heritage low profile."
"Hmm... So you mentioned wanting to be friends with me in your letter. Is that also why you chose to keep it a secret?" Issei inquired, seeking to understand her motivations.
Bashfully, Ingvild nodded. "Y-Yes, but... I know you're cautious about trusting others. I completely understand if you have no interest in pursuing that."
Intrigued, Issei pressed on. "But why are you so interested in me?"
Unable to meet his gaze, Ingvild averted her eyes and hesitated momentarily. Issei still held her wrists gently, attempting to establish eye contact. Blushing deeply, she finally found her voice. "I... I want to be like you."
"Be like me?" Issei repeated, his curiosity growing.
Ingvild's words resonated deeply with Issei, stirring a mix of surprise and warmth within him. "You admire me for living without fear, for showing kindness to those weaker than myself, and for the bond I share with my friends. I assure you, I wasn't doubting the sincerity of your letter. If you truly feel that way, then I have no issue with us being friends. However, I must request that you refrain from stalking me any further," Issei spoke with a firm yet understanding tone as he released her wrists and rose to his feet.
Ingvild's eyes widened in astonishment. "R-Really?!"
Issei nodded, a small smile gracing his lips. "Yes, really. But I must warn you, being friends with me will likely attract a lot of attention. If the devils see you with me, it won't be long before your true identity is revealed."
Ingvild's face lit up with hope. "Then perhaps you could train me too, just like them?" she suggested, gesturing toward Irina and Xenovia.
Amused by her enthusiasm, Issei chuckled. "You want to become a dragon as well?"
Her eyes gleaming with determination, Ingvild nodded fervently. "Yes! Could I?"
Issei considered her request, his gaze thoughtful. "Sure, if that's what you truly desire. But remember, it won't be an easy path. Becoming a dragon requires tremendous dedication and strength."
Xenovia voiced her skepticism. "Are you sure we can trust this girl? We barely know anything about her."
Ingvild interrupted, her voice filled with conviction. "I swear my loyalty to you, Issei. I'll do whatever it takes to prove my sincerity."
