Confusion clouded Irina's expression as she questioned, "How? What do you mean?"
Xenovia's curiosity mirrored her friend's as she asked, "Are you suggesting that you train us?"
Issei nodded, his gaze unwavering. "Training would be part of it, but it goes beyond that. To truly empower you, I would have to transform you into dragons."
Shock and disbelief painted Irina's face as she gawked at Issei. "What? That's impossible! We're humans!"
Xenovia, equally perplexed, voiced her doubts, "Turning us into dragons? I've never heard of such a thing. We're not even sure it's feasible."
Issei patiently clarified, "You would still retain your human essence, but you would also possess the powers and characteristics of dragons. It wouldn't render you invulnerable to incredibly powerful adversaries, but it would be enough to deter anyone below the level of the Maou from targeting you."
The realisation dawned on Xenovia, her amazement shining through. "Wait...are you saying you could make us Dragonborns?"
A nod from Issei confirmed her suspicion. "That's exactly what I had in mind. However, I understand that your faith and religious beliefs are of utmost importance to both of you. If you're not comfortable with this idea, I won't be offended."
Irina's optimism shone through her response. "Issei, as a holy dragon aligned with Heaven, Gabriel-sama would not find any fault in it if we were to share a similar nature. We trust you."
Xenovia chimed in, echoing her friend's sentiment. "The angels have shown favour towards you, and with God's demise, I can't see any downside to this proposition."
A smile played on Issei's lips, his surprise evident. "I didn't expect you to agree so readily, but before we proceed, there's something important you should know."
A distant thought crossed Issei's mind as he contemplated revealing the truth about Ddraig to his friends. The ancient dragon, sensing Issei's hesitation, sighed softly. "Hopefully, they will understand," Ddraig whispered within Issei's thoughts.
Curiosity tinged Xenovia's voice as she questioned Issei, her eyes wide with astonishment. "What is it, Issei? What do you need to tell us?"
Taking a deep breath, Issei mustered the courage to reveal the truth that had long been hidden within him. "I am the Red Dragon Emperor, and I am bound to the heavenly dragon known as Ddraig. He resides within me, connected to my Longinus Boosted Gear. We are one."
The shock on Xenovia and Irina's faces was palpable as they stared at Issei in disbelief. Xenovia's voice trembled as she struggled to process the revelation. "So...one of the dragons responsible for God's demise resides within you?"
Issei nodded solemnly, his gaze never wavering. "Yes, that's correct. I possess the power of the dragon that played a part in ending God's existence."
Irina's confusion overflowed, her words laced with disbelief. "Seriously? This is...unbelievable!"
Seeking clarification, Xenovia inquired, "But how did you come to possess this Longinus?"
Issei explained patiently, his voice filled with a deep sense of understanding. "Only those who are human, or part human, can be born with the sacred gears known as Longinus. I was born with the Boosted Gear, making me the vessel for the Heavenly Dragon of Domination, Ddraig."
A heavy silence hung in the air as the weight of this revelation settled upon them. Emotions surged within each of them, a mixture of awe, apprehension, and uncertainty.
"You deserved to know the truth before making a decision," Issei spoke slowly, breaking the silence that enveloped them. "If any of you have reservations about this now, I completely understand."
In that moment, Irina shattered the tension, rushing towards Issei and enveloping him in a tight embrace. "That doesn't matter, Issei! You are still you, and the responsibility for God's demise rests with those who actually caused it. This revelation changes nothing!"
Xenovia, her voice resolute, added her support. "Your willingness to share this truth, despite the weight it carries, speaks volumes about your integrity, Issei. It only strengthens my conviction to stand by your side. I will follow you wherever this path leads."
A warm smile spread across Issei's face as he looked at the two girls, their unwavering loyalty touching his heart. "So, both of you are still willing to become dragonborns?"
Xenovia beamed cheerfully at the thought. "Dragonknight Xenovia Quarta, loyal wife and guardian of the Red Dragon Emperor Issei Hyoudou!"
"Wife?!" Irina exclaimed, her voice a mixture of surprise and amusement. She released Issei and playfully pushed Xenovia. The two indulged in a brief but friendly struggle.
Interrupting their lighthearted banter, Issei interjected with a sense of finality. "Well, it seems we have reached a decision, my dragonknights."
As they stood there, a sudden sight caught Issei's attention—an unassuming puddle behind them. While rain had fallen recently in Japan, something about this particular puddle unsettled him. A nagging feeling tugged at his instincts.
"It doesn't look suspicious, but...wait, didn't I see the same puddle a few blocks away when we were speaking with Gremory's group? Could it be that Fountain Girl is using water to spy on me? Damn..."
Irina's concern became evident as she observed Issei's heightened state of alertness. Sensing something was amiss, she questioned him. "Issei, what's wrong? Why are you so on edge?"
Fixing his gaze on the puddle, Issei focused his magical energy, enveloping it in a protective aura. Irina and Xenovia, perplexed by his actions, followed his line of sight until they too noticed a figure being forcibly pulled from the puddle and deposited onto the street.
The puddle vanished swiftly, dissipating into thin air, leaving the girl exposed and visibly embarrassed, her face hidden behind her hands.
Irina's voice carried a mix of shock and outrage. "Who is that? Was someone spying on us?"
Realizing the truth, Issei addressed the girl directly. "So, you're the infamous Fountain Girl? I have to admit, you're quite stealthy. I couldn't detect your presence or scent, but that's undoubtedly the same puddle from earlier."
Avoiding eye contact, the girl tried to conceal herself, prompting Irina and Xenovia to position themselves strategically, preventing her escape.
