Bab 99: A Godless One

Leena's words confirmed Xander's worst fears. He froze in place as he realized the terrible implications of this dreadful discovery.

It took Xander all his strength to maintain his composure so as not to frighten the villagers and create unnecessary panic. With his eyes fixed on Leena's frigid face, he asked in a barely audible whisper, "What's the mark?"

"A crescent moon with a dagger splitting it in half," Leena answered in a broken voice.

As Xander heard that description, his eyes widened and he gripped the child tighter within his arms.

According to Old Legends, the Godless ones were cursed children born with twisted Mystical Talents. Though from the outside they looked just like normal humans, they were known to bear the mark of evil, which severed their ties with the Seven Deities the moment they were born, alienating them from the path of light.
