Bab 60: A haunting melody

The witch's seductive voice washed over the Dreamscape, flooding the fields and forests with woe. The notes rose and fell with poignant grace as her weeping tune drowned every emotion known to man.

Her song echoed a profound sense of loss, an unbearable grief that had ruptured the dam of her heart and could no longer be contained inside her being.

As Xander listened to the doleful melody, the words echoed in his ears, draining all joy from his heart and snuffing out his last ray of hope.

"An empty home amidst the trees,

A cradled love I'll never see.

His lips are pale,

I weep, I wail.

An empty hope inside my heart,

The mother sleeps a world apart..."

As the witch's last words trailed off into the cold night, Xander heard a gentle humming outside the cottage. It continued the song without lyrics but had the same woeful melody that drowned the heart in sorrow.
