Bab 56: "Lena, you are so beautiful."

Selena's heart raced as she sat next to King Liam. She tried to calm her nerves while Conley helped her position him upright and settled him against a stack of plush pillows, hoping to bring him some comfort. She carefully lifted the bowl of warm oatmeal, taking a spoonful herself to test the temperature before setting the spoon down and replacing it with a clean one. She brought the oatmeal closer to his parched lips. He was especially obedient, opening his mouth and swallowing without coaxing.

As his delirious gaze flickered open, his eyes met Conley's. However, amidst his feverish haze and outburst, he failed to recognise his trusted ally. He glared at Conley his gaze fierce like a predator protecting its prey.

Conley, "..."

He surely wasn't getting paid enough for this. His boss was so heartless. How could he look at him like he was staring at an enemy? Conley was smart enough to take a step back.
