Bab 64: 040 Slip into a Nightmare

There were no lights on in the room, and the curtains on the left side were drawn back a little way, and a yellow sunbeam shone in, laying at the end of the bed and cutting the dimness of the room in two.

She sat up and froze, staring at the hidden door of the room.

There was the faint sound of conversation from outside, seemingly some distance away, but so loud that it penetrated the layers of obstruction and drifted into this forgotten corner because the speaker was so excited.

A strong curiosity rising in her heart, she quietly pushed open the door of her room and came on tiptoe to the parlor.

But she saw that the door, which was usually closed at all times, was open at the moment, and the owner of this officer's quarters was not in the living room. She looked out, only to see that the door across the hall was also wide open, and two men were facing each other in conversation, a red-haired man sitting in a wheelchair with a scowl on his face.
