Christine's POV
Tears flowed like a river down her face and her head shook sideways, and her mouth trembled as she muttered something incoherent. The sight startled me greatly, and I couldn't even move a muscle, I just stared at her in concussion.
"Valerie!" I squat beside her and shake her shoulders lightly while calling out her name.
"Valerie, wake up!" I yelled this time, and she opened her eyes widely.
"What is the matter?" She asked while sitting on the sofa.
Furthermore, I brought out my handkerchief and wiped her face with it. She looked at me with her eyes wide open, but she didn't stop me. I stood up and walked towards the water dispenser and brought her a glass of water. She looked at me with teary eyes and took the glass of water from me.
"Thanks." She mumbled before gulping down the entire content of the glass.
Moreover, I took the cup from her and dropped it on the table. She stood up from the sofa and took her luggage that was beside her and smiled broadly at me.
"Let's go, or do you want to keep staring?" She said with enthusiasm.
Sporadically, I didn't say a word to her, I stared at her for a few seconds before walking out of the mini apartment, and she followed suit. I wonder what her dream was about or should I say nightmare, but I know she doesn't want to talk about it, so I let it be.
My employees turned to our direction as we walked towards the elevator, I glared at them, and they didn't need anyone to tell them that they needed to concentrate on what I paid them for.
My driver ran to Valerie to get her suitcase when he sighted us walking towards the car. "Good day, Mr. Marciano." He greeted me and I nodded in response.
"No, don't worry I can carry it, it's not heavy at all, thanks for your offer though." She said with a broad smile.
"Let him do it" I didn't allow her a room to table her 'buts' because that's an order.
She shrugged her shoulders and let my driver carry her luggage to the car booth. I entered the car and sat and after a while, I looked out from the window and saw Valerie standing with her hands folded on her chest. It then dawned on me that she possibly couldn't open the car. I opened the door of the car and she entered it.
"Home," I said to my driver and bent over my tablet.
"Can you stop at a nearby shopping mall? Please, I want to get something." Valerie said to me and I nodded.
My driver hauled down at a mall and Valerie walked out of the car. After a while, she didn't return, and I asked my driver to check her whereabouts. It's been an hour since she left and hasn't returned. I was tired of working with my tablet, so I dropped it beside me.
"Sir, madam is in trouble, they're about to call the police on her."
I walked out of my car immediately and followed my driver's lead to a particular shop in the mall where all kinds of women's necessities are sold. I saw Valerie standing in front of a counter and a woman yelling at her.
"I can't believe that you don't have any ounce of self-respect or dignity, how can you boldly walk inside a mall with an empty credit card and still claim that you aren't a thief?" The lady glared at her.
I opened my mouth to say something, but someone beat me to it.
"How dare you lay baseless accusations on people?"
