Bab 71: Chapter XVII: The Knight Lord and the Jester [2]

The door creaked softly, revealing the robust figure of the castle's liege lord, the Count of Frundle. As he surveyed the room, the sight of his court jester, with his distinct costume and peculiar fashion, providing amusement to the young noble in vain greeted him, evident by said noble's impassive countenance. Seeing this, he cannot help but feel sympathy to his court jester, prompting him to wonder why had he hired him in the first place, given that he himself had no fascination to the art of entertainment whatsoever. Moreover, even for a noble of his stature, hosting parties and banquets were quite the rarity, so he was more or less wasting silver coins to the jester's monthly wages. Even so, he still cannot seem to gain the courage to decommission the man, who had served his family for around fifteen years.
