"You're next."
Romnick involuntarily held his breath as soon as he read what Heaven mouthed. For the first time, he felt fear and panic swirling in his chest. Even his gulp resonated in his ear, looking away and setting his gaze on the windshield.
"Drive," he muttered solemnly. "As fast as you can. Don't let her catch up or… we're both going to die."
The driver, who had been yelling since earlier, couldn't help but cast Romnick a quick look. Although he had been panicking, it surprised him to hear Romnick say such a thing. However, he didn't have plenty of time to wonder or entertain this surprise.
They both knew that the woman was crazy.
The driver clenched his teeth, hissing as he refocused his attention on the road. Glancing at the rearview mirror, the driver huffed sharply as he got an estimate of the distance between them and the escort car behind them.
