Bab 24: Second Day I Loss I
Jumping from tree to tree at a rapid rate, two figures could be seen closely followed by another three figures, giving the impression that the two figures were being chased by the three others.
It was correct. Togi and Mata were attempting to flee from Kumo ninja and it was not going well, it had already been 3 hours that they were running through the forest in hope of escaping, to say they were very unlucky as the team that was chasing them was composed of three people, which directly put them at a disadvantage, and to make matters worse they were from kumo, which meant that they would not stop chasing them because it is well known that the relationship between Iwa and Kumo is bad , the last time that their two Kage had meet the Raikage had attack the Tsuchikage , and know because of it both side hold a grudge against each other.
Just before Team Y was attacked
Team Y had been exploring the forest for around 5-7 hours in the hopes of finding their needed numbers. Unfortunately, they weren't very lucky and didn't discover that many numbers, but there was still good news since Togi found his needed number.
The two were making their way back to the makeshift base they had established the day before when three ninja suddenly leaped in front of them.
The tallest ninja in their group said, "Look what we have found, two kids dressed as ninja."
Another ninja in their squad asked, "Can we kill them already, leader? It's getting boring lately."
"Not yet, we'll give them a chance, give us all of your numbers, and I promise you we won't hurt you too much," stated the group's leader.
Togi and Mata glanced at each other, knowing they had no chance against them; the three enemies they were up against were all intimidating, maybe approaching the level of a chunin.
Before the enemy ninja could say anything further, Togi and Mata took out a smoke bomb and tossed it on the ground, creating a great quantity of smoke around them, and exploited this distraction to try to get away.
"They're fleeing, captain," whispered one of the Kumo ninja. "What are you waiting for, follow them immediately!" yelled the leader.
As soon as the team leader finished speaking, the three of them jumped from their positions and began chasing the team from Iwa. As the team from Kumo got closer to the team from Iwa, they began throwing shuriken at them, Togi and Mata had to slow down to counter the incoming projectile, but not to let the enemy get too close, they launched a few kunai with explosive tags attached to them at the enemy.
The explosive tag caught the opposing ninja off guard and effectively bought them some time. Team Y took this time to flee as fast as they could in one way, but when they thought they were safe, the enemy forced them to realize the harsh reality , that the three enemy ninja were quicker than them.
"Perhaps we can outrun them if we run long enough," Togi speculated.
"It's not a good idea; we'll have to throw all of our weapons at them just to gain time," Mata said.
"We don't have much option we can try to outrun them or try to fight them, but i'm practically sure that fighting them in 2v3 would be a far worse option then trying to run away" said Togi.
Togi and Mata kept jumping from tree to tree, sometimes looking back to see where the enemy was, sometimes turning just to throw some kunai or shuriken. It had been 3 hours and they were running low on weapons, and to make matters worse, they were running low on stamina and probably couldn't run like that for much longer.
While hopping from tree to tree, Mata turned and launched an exploding kunai at the following ninja. She was followed by Togi, who did the same.
Togi had used his earth release several times during their pursuit but was limited in its use because he was running and couldn't concentrate on more powerful jutsu and could only cast fast and easy to execute jutsu, even if they weren't very effective and were weak it was enough to buy them some time, unfortunately Togi was running low on chakra and couldn't continue to cast jutsu in infinite while Mata wanted to help her teammate she couldn't because her jutsu can't be executed while running at a fast pace.
"Togi, we can't keep going like this soon both of us will run out of stamina ," Mata stated.
"But what shall we do?" Togi wondered.
"I still have a good amount of chakra left, so I'll turn and fight them, giving you enough time to flee," Mata replied.
"I should fight them because you're the strongest in our team, and you should be the one who moves on to the next trial," Togi added.
"You don't have much chakra left, so you probably won't give me enough time to flee, and you already have your required number in comparison to me," Mata said.
"OK, but promise me you won't die," Togi pleaded.
"Of course, I will not die," Mata said.
The three ninja from Kumo were becoming irritated by how fast this ninja from Iwa were running.
"Leader, the girl of the group stopped running while the other is still running away, should we follow the one who is running?" said one of the genin from Kumo.
"No, I'm tired of following them; we'll only look after this girl," stated the Leader.
"What will we do with her after we defeat her?" said the genin.
"We will send a message thanks to her," replied the leader.
"What message?" inquired both genin.
"We will demonstrate what happens when someone tries to fuck with Kumo by cutting one of her arms," stated the Leader.
