"It can't be that bad right?" Hermione asked curiously. Nick shrugged "Depends on what you consider dangerous as well as the circumstances of your visit. If you somehow broke into the island despite the wards then it would be a nightmare as there are Graphorns , gryphcats , horned water serpents , colo-colo and a very powerful manticore guardian. That doesn't even begin to talk about the magical plants and less dangerous creatures. If you are a guest on the island though most of these things aren't a problem unless you decide to make them one." he said casually.-
"You do realize that the magical creatures you listed off are almost all xxxx or higher rated dangerous creatures right?" Daphne asked seriously. "Yes , what about it?" He replied casually. "You know it's illegal to import or own creatures like that right?" Daphne pressed sternly. Nick just waved it off though "I don't own any of those creatures though , I own the land they live on which last I checked was not a crime." he pointed out smugly. "That's a dangerous line to tip toe around so I hope you know what you are doing." Daphne said worriedly before letting the topic drop.-
"You don't got any spider there do you?" Ron asked with a shudder. "Last time I checked I only had the normal sort plus one species of the magical kind but they are pretty small." Nick said honestly. "What sort is it?" Hermione asked interested. "South African jewelweaver" Nick answered with a shrug. "X rated dangerous creature with numbing venom prized for their stone webs that shine like jewels under direct light. I read about them in the library." Hermione explained and Nick nodded. The species was almost nonmagical in nature if it wasn't for the fact that their webs were clearly magical.-
They were also both very shy of people and their venom was almost harmless which allowed them to have a very low danger rating in general. The kind on Nicks island were not much different from that rating other than that the change from the heavy mana had made them more potent and larger than normal. Even after that change though they were basically just tarantulas with really nice to look at webs. The most dangerous creatures on the island after the change though was the horned water snakes and the manticore , Seram.-
The horned water snakes had evolved or rather underwent atavism into a creature that had long since went extinct , a hydra. There was unfortunately only a single member of the group on the island to turn into a hydra while the rest went on to become evolved versions of the normal horned water snake species. Ironically the hydra chose to live in the tiny pond on the eastern side of the island and like one would expect was fairly territorial. Nick was forced to place a small filtration barrier in the small streams leading to and from that pond as the hydras venom was no joking matter and was causing problems for the fish there.-
Other than that none of the species on the island really made any jumps in danger like that single horned water snake did. Seram grew an extra set of black leathery bat wings and gained some serious size reaching the size of an African elephant but otherwise didn't experience much of a shift. The venom from her scorpion tail though got a nice boost in potency which was nice. Nazgul however was the undisputed queen of the island as not a single creature on it was willing to stand up to her including the hydra.-
'Then again I don't think any creature is stupid enough to try and fight something that can rip out your soul as easy as breathing.' I thought with a chuckle as I scratched my horribly cuddly danger beast behind her horns. "Speaking of should I send a letter first or would showing up unannounced work just as well?" Nick asked calmly. "My folks wouldn't mind if you showed up unannounced so long as there was no nasty surprises this time." Ron said with a shrug. "Sirius said you are always welcome so same." Harry said as well.-
"Our parents aren't going to be happy if you suddenly show up so send a letter beforehand." Tracy said for both her and Daphne. "My parents would probably be fine with a sudden visit but it may be best if you send a letter ahead of time." Hermione said and Luna followed with "Papa might want to come too". Nick made a point to remember these arrangements for later and let the rest of the day flow smoothly without trying to control it. Soon enough it was time to bid farewell for now and Nick had Dotty take him directly to the island.
