As Lao Hu removed Li Jing's safety gear, he walked her to the door of the building.
As they made their way out, Li Jing couldn't shake off the fear, remembering the events of that fateful day in the building. "If I step out, the police…" she began anxiously.
"Will you just relax? I've told you a million times, no one's going to link anything to you. Don't you go to school as per usual?" Lao Hu interrupted.
Li Jing nodded, taking in his words.
"Besides, the building was burnt down that day," he added.
Li Jing whipped her neck towards him, eyes wide with shock. "Why didn't you tell me this?"
"I didn't see the need to," Lao Hu replied casually, his tone nonchalant.
Suddenly, they stopped in the alley, and Lao Hu gestured towards a cab. "The cab is that way, just get in. It's already paid for," he instructed, pushing her towards the waiting vehicle.
