Roberto lay sprawled across his bed, the antiseptic scent of the room stinging his nostrils as he continued his slow and arduous recovery from the painful stomach injury. The white walls seemed to close in on him, a stark contrast to the bustling world he was used to.

His eyes fixed on the ceiling as his thoughts meandered through the labyrinth of his mind. The room was awash with the soft glow of the brightening sun, casting bright lights reverberating across the walls. It was a peaceful morning, one that seemed ripe for conversation.

Jack, his older brother, sat in the leather armchair across from the bed, flipping through a magazine but not reading it. His mind was on the conversation he had with Lily earlier this morning..... Well, not quite.
