'What if I told her that I was scared of the Nightshade family,' thought Lilia, as this was the only thing that she had seemed plausible.

In fact, it was a good idea considering that Lucius had just been beaten up by Sylas.

"I'm scared of my family, that's why I want to join your family," answered Lilia, making sure that her voice was a little shaky while saying that.

To be honest, she was scared of the head of the Nightshade Family, as she never knew what he would try to do to her.

"You're scared? That's the best you could come up with, huh?" replied Melinda, not believing that excuse at all.

"What do you mean? It's the truth I'm telling you," she added.

However, Melinda didn't believe her one bit.

She knew that Sylas was a cruel individual and that he wasn't scared of hurting anyone which might ruin his reputation, but this was simply too sudden.
