Bab 97: The Newborn Baby

The three women around Roxana looked shocked after they heard the bad rumors about Esmeralda. Lyra even couldn't stir the soup in the pot and focused all her thoughts on Roxana.

"I-is that true?" Lyra stuttered, "It's probably just a rumor, right? Mrs. Mistral couldn't have done such a cruel thing to us."

Roxana pretended to show a deeply sorrow expression. "When I heard the rumor that she was selling babies from the villagers, I thought Mrs. Mistral was a nasty person. However, after seeing her kindness today, I also doubt those rumors."

"Unfortunately, sometimes there are some people who pretend to be good in order to gain the trust of others." Roxana deliberately spoke from two different points of view to confuse the women. "We shouldn't deny it too much because rumors aren't necessarily false."
