Bab 140: Vesperon, the Nightstalker

Eve had anticipated that some of her fellow competitors in the Courtship would follow her chosen path, perhaps with ill intentions. The tension in the air had been palpable, and she had braced herself for potential confrontations. Yet, to her surprise, no one emerged from the shadows to pursue her. It was as if the labyrinth had swallowed them whole, leaving her to navigate its winding paths alone.

Confusion and suspicion gnawed at her as she pressed on, her gaze darting around in search of any signs of movement. Logic dictated that this secluded and intricate maze would provide the perfect opportunity for her adversaries to strike, assuming she was defenseless and vulnerable in this labyrinth.

Yet Eve found herself drawn deeper into the labyrinth, each step taking her further away from the safety of the entrance.
