"Incidentally, I cannot fathom where I erred," Henrik exclaimed, frustration evident in his voice.

A week had passed, yet Henrik and Eve had been unable to successfully create the blood cocktail. Eve found herself growing increasingly guarded, protecting her secrets from Henrik's relentless curiosity.

"Perhaps it is due to your lack of rest," Eve suggested, her gaze lingering on Henrik's dark, weary eyes. Vampires possessed the ability to remain awake for extended periods, but Henrik's exhaustion was becoming palpable.

"Rest is a notion for the feeble," Henrik retorted defiantly.

Eve merely shrugged in response, acknowledging that she couldn't force him to rest. She turned her attention to the table, her mind wandering to thoughts of Maximilian. Ever since their experimentation began, he seemed to have vanished into thin air, leaving no trace behind.
