I took in a calming breath and waited. I knew that by coming back here there was a chance that Cole would show up. Hell, Jack had insisted that--- Yes! He was going to show up and I’d better prepare for that. And a smile tugged at my lips remembering that. Jack hadn’t told me to stay behind or remain somewhere where I’d be safe. He’d held me and told me to brace for the inevitable.
