Grace’s POV

“So,” I asked, biting into the juicy meat that Jack offered me. Without seasoning, the meat didn’t taste at all like chicken, but as long as it filled my belly, I didn’t mind. “Can werewolves and witches still be mates?”

Jack was concentrating on dinner. He had developed a special kind of technic to eat his food without being in excruciating pain constantly, so I wasn’t expecting much in form of a conversation. And in a way, it didn’t bother me, that he didn’t use words. Sometimes I felt like I understood what he was saying by just looking at him.

Like now…

He gave me a “duh”-sort of look and it communicated everything that he wanted to say. Well, yeah, if I was the King’s mate, I guess it obviously could happen. But if the species hated each other, then why did their Moon Goddess let them be soulmates? If they were just going to reject each other, what was the point?
