Bab 47: 44. The girl in the blue dress

I sat on the hospital bed with mixed emotions .
Mom had seen me coming from my walk with Bee yesterday and had not been happy .
But after I told her that I was fine she had insisted we get a doctor's appointment and a doctor's opinion .
Hence I was back in the hospital again but , again , with mixed feelings .
I was happy on one hand to get an early check up but I really didn't like the hospital .
What if they gave me that horrible slop they called food ? I cringed at the thought .
" What's taking him so long ? " mom said looking at the door and then at us .
We were in a room similar to the one I had when I first came there .
Gus was sitting on a chair by the wall and he wasn't dressed formally at all . He was wearing green sweatpants and a blue shirt .
Mom stood next to me and wore a grey work suit with black pumps , she was going to work after this check up .
Bee sat on a chair right next to me and he had been looking at my face since we got here . I had gotten used to it but I still blushed when I looked down at him and our eyes locked .
Seriously , where was doctor Fishyton ? I thought .
And as if by magic the door opened and doctor Fishyton walked into the room . He was followed by nurse Samantha and ... a little girl in a blue dress .
Who was she ? Samantha's daughter ? I wondered .
Doctor Fishyton smiled at all of us , well except Gus . He walked up to mom and me .
" Well Amanda , you called me and here I am . So please do tell me what the matter is . " he said using sign language .
Mom pointed at me and spoke , " He went for a walk around the block yesterday and ... without his crutch . When I saw him , I nearly threw a fit . "
I raised my eye brows at this before fixing my face . Nearly ? I thought dryly , she had smothered me like a hen with a cracked egg .
I had been given water , food , blankets , medication and soup .
It had been a hectic evening and hot night , it had been alot of blankets .
" Really ? Why did you let him do that ?" he asked her and she narrowed her eyes , " I mean , why did he do that ? "
Good recovery doctor , I thought mirthlessly , now it's my fault .
" I just wanted to go for a walk . I know I'm supposed to be resting but I feel fine . My shoulder doesn't hurt as much and I can walk really far . " i said and doctor Fishyton raised his brows .
" Really ? Well ... that's most incredible . How on Earth did that happen ? " he asked moving next to me , he turned and looked at Bee , " Oh , hello again . Still with this crowd are you ? "
" I am here for Nymph if he needs me . " Bee said and Dr Fishyton chuckled .
" Ah ... yes , Nymph . I almost forgot . " he looked back at me , " Yuree , I want to do some preliminary tests to see how far you've recovered . If what you're saying is true , then my boy , you've been blessed with the healing prowess of a ... a nymph . "
I ignored the quip and nodded my head . Dr Fishyton turned to nurse Samantha .
" Samantha can you get me the tools ? " he asked and Samantha walked out of the room but the girl in the dress stayed behind .
She stood at the base of the bed right next to mom but nobody had given her any attention . She was looking at me and then at Bee with big round eyes . Was no one going to say hello or ask her why she didn't go with her mom ?
" Um hey , are you not going to go with your mom ? " I asked her and she looked at me .
Her eyes were pale blue like a shallow pool and her hair flowed loosely around her neck . I smiled warmly at her but she just tilted her head and looked back at me .
" Umm Yuree ... who are you talking to ? " Dr Fishyton asked and I frowned and looked at him , who did he think I was talking to ?
" I'm talking to the girl over there . " I said pointing to the girl ... except she was no longer there .
" Huh ? " I looked around but the girl was gone . She seemed to have vanished into thin air .
" Did he bang his head and is only now seeing things ? " Gus asked from the chair but Dr Fishyton ignored him . He looked at me with concern and so did Mom .
" Yuree are you alright ? " Mom asked and I bit my lip , feeling very anxious .
I didn't know what I had seen now , whether it had been real or not .
I looked down but then I felt a hand on my thigh . I looked up and saw Bee looking at me .
Then I saw him shake his head ever so slightly . No ? No what ? I wondered .
" Yuree , if you are starting to ... see things . We could get you a brain scan . " Dr Fishyton said and I immediately shook my head .
" No , no . I'm not seeing things ... it ... was just- a test . " I said smiling , " I wanted to see how you would react . "
" Poor humour my boy . " Dr Fishyton said in a voice as close to stern as I had ever heard him use .
A second later nurse Samantha walked back in and as she walked in , the girl in the blue dress appeared behind her .
And when I mean appeared , I mean APPEARED !
She just materialised as if out of nothing . I had to stop myself from gaping or looking shocked , thank gosh , I had acting skills .
" Ah nurse you are back ." Dr Fishyton said , he stood up and took a small triangular hammer from the tray , nurse Samantha had come in with .
" Now Yuree , I'm going to test your reflexes okay ? " he said and i nodded my head . He took the hammer and tapped my right knee . My leg shot up and kicked the air .
" Okay , that's good . Now we are going to try walking . Without your crutch . I want to see how stable you are . " he said , " Also if you start to feel pain , please say so . Although I hope you did not show fake bravado yesterday with your mother . "
I nodded my head and got ready to stand on my own . Bee stood up and put his arm around me , he helped me to my feet and I allowed him to but afterwards I told him to he let me go .
I took a few steps around the room , they were slightly uneven because I still had the cast on my leg but I walked fine .
All the time , my eyes kept turning back to the girl in the blue dress . She stood next to mom , watching me and occasionally looking at Bee, Gus or mom . She didn't look at Dr Fishyton or Samantha though .
Who was she ? No , WHAT was she ? I felt certain something was wrong with her . But I couldn't ask outloud otherwise everyone would start worrying about my mental health .
So I kept my thoughts to myself and walked around until Dr Fishyton told me to stop .
" Well , this is truly incredible ." Dr Fishyton said , he looked at mom , " You say he walked like this yesterday aswell ? "
" Yes , infact , he even went to the market and shopped with me . " mom said , " I brought Bee along to help support him but Yuree walked mostly by himself . "
" Well , I don't know what to say ... Yuree , can I check your leg properly ? Without the cast ? " Dr Fishyton asked and i nodded my head .
Dr Fishyton came and started to take of the cast . I sighed with relief , maybe I could lose the thing today .
" He can see me , can't he ? Extraordinary ."
I looked up at this new voice and felt amazement creek into me .
It had been the girl in the blue dress , she had spoken . She was standing next to nurse Samantha now and looking at ... Bee ?
I looked at Bee and saw he was looking at me , he seemed oblivious to the girl . But was he ?
" Ghoul , Why does your Beloved seem confused ? " the girl said and I looked at her sharply .
Ghoul ... She was talking to Bee . Unless I was mistaken , he was the only ghoul in the room . But Bee didn't look at her or seem to hear her , his eyes stayed on me .
But the girl talked on . And what she said made little sense .
" You know Madin is still afraid you'll snatch him . I'm not though , I'm not afraid you'll snatch me . " she said and I felt confused , What was she talking about ?
" Have you started seeing the other planes yet ? I don't think so though . " she said and she moved next to Bee ," You seem different though , your energy has shifted . What has happened ghoul ? It's even the same for your Beloved , Yuree . "
" Wait what ? " I said outloud and everyone looked at me .
Dr Fishyton had been looking at my ankle and checking on it , whilst mom hovered over my shoulder checking on him and me .
Gus had been sitting and looking like he wanted to take a nap . Nurse Samantha had stood next to Dr Fishyton holding the tray with a smile on her face . But my outburst got all their attention .
" Yuree , what is the matter ? " Dr Fishyton asked and I bit my lip .
" Um I need to use the bathroom . Can you guys wait for me ? " I said quickly and Dr Fishyton frowned .
" Well I have my rounds to take off but if you hurry then I can give you two minutes . Although from what I see you seem to be healing remarkably fast . " Dr Fishyton said and I nodded my head .
I got off the bed , " Bee let's go ." I said and Gus grunted .
" Wait , why is he going with you ? It's YOUR bladder calling ain't it ? " he said and I rolled my eyes .
" I know but I'm sure Bee wants to use the restroom too . Don't you Bee ? " I said and hoped Bee would agree . I didn't have to hope , Bee nodded his head and I smiled , he usually agreed with me .
We both walked out of the room and out into the corridor . After taking two turns we came into the men's restroom and thank gosh ! It was empty , no body was around .
I shut the door and locked it , it was harsh but I hopefully hoped nobody would interrupt us .
I turned around and looked at the girl in the blue dress . She had thankfully followed along the way , and I had had to resist the urge to start questioning her in the corridor . But there had been too many people , so I had taken into the restroom , hoping that there would be nobody inside . Even if there had been somebody , I would have waited till they left and locked the door . It was the whole reason I had said I wanted to go to the restroom .
I wanted to talk to this girl . So I looked at her as she stood in the room but before I could speak Bee did .
" Misty , you can cause trouble for Nymph . Stop antagonizing him ." Bee said to the girl and she giggled .
" I didn't do anything , but talk like I did before . How is it my fault if he can see me and hear me ? " she said smiling at him and then she turned to me , " His aura is brighter now aswell , what did you do to him ? Very few Livers can see us spectres ."
" Wait ... did you say ' spectres ' ?" I asked her and she nodded her head and that made my heart clench .
She was a ghost !
Which meant she was dead and oh my gosh , I couldn't believe I was looking at a dead girl . But then I reminded myself that I was living with a dead boy .
" A ghost ? " I said in a faint voice and she giggled .
" Yes , yes and don't be afraid I won't harm you . If I did your Corpse would snatch me . " she said looking at Bee .
" What do you mean Corpse ? " I asked her , confusion outweighing my creeped-out-ness at talking to a dead girl . " Didn't you say Bee was a ghoul ? You kept calling him that ."
" I call him ghoul because he acts like a ghoul even though his power glows like that of a Corpse or atleast that's what Madin tells me . I've never met a Corpse before I met this ghoul ." she said and this only made me more confused .
" Okay , I don't understand any of that but could you tell me what you want and who you are ? " I said to her .
I was curious about this ghost girl of Bee's . When had they met and what was she to him ? Was she a friend or like a little sister ... Did ghouls and ghosts even have such relationships ? I didn't know , the only ghoul and ghost I knew were in the room right then with me.
" My name is Misty ... I " the girl /Misty paused and looked down thoughtfully ," I ... I want ... I want to see it . "
" To see what ? " I asked her , she sounded so sad right then . Clearly something bothered her and someone would call me crazy but I actually wanted to help her if I could . The same I felt for Bee . Was I becoming a paranormalist ? I hoped not .
I looked sideways at Bee and saw he was looking at me and I saw in his eyes that he was smiling . What was so funny ? I wondered and asked him .
" It's not humour but your kindness . Nymph cares about Misty and that is very ... I am not sure about the word but I believe it's ... called cute . Nymph is being cute . " he said and I blushed and looked away .
Oh gosh , typical Bee , making me blush at inconvenient moments . There was a kid infront us , a dead kid but still a kid .
" That ! " Misty said jumping up and down but her feet made no sound on the tiled floor . She was smiling and pointing at us . " I want to see that."
" See what ? " I asked her and she smiled softly at me . Oh , she seemed so adorable right then .
" Mother always told me , love would set me free and I want to see the love between a Corpse and it's Beloved . Madin says it is very special and maybe ... maybe it can help me ... help me to - " she didn't finish though but just disappeared and I was left bewildered .
What had she been talking about ? I wondered , I understood this term Corpse was directed at Bee but why call me Beloved ? What did that even mean ?
" Nymph do you wish for us to leave or stay ? " Bee asked me as if nothing had happened . Misty had looked so sad and broken before she disappeared . How could he be so insensitive ?
" Bee , don't you care about that poor girl ? " I asked him but he tilted his head .
" What do you mean ? " he asked me and I sighed heavily.
" She looked so sad right before she disappeared ... what's wrong with her ? " I asked him and he looked at me and then at the spot where Misty had been a few seconds ago .
" She is the departed ... She has unfinished business and doesn't know how to fulfil it . " he said sadly and I realised that he was talking himself aswell as her .
" It hurts ... not knowing and not understanding how , why and what it is you came back for . It hurts ... to try and remember ." he said and I felt sadness build up in me .
I put my arm on his shoulder and he looked at me .
" I'm sorry Bee . " I said softly .
" Sorry for what , Nymph ? " he asked me .
" That you ... departed people feel like that . I'm sorry it hurts . " I said and then i reached around and hugged him with my good arm .
For a moment I stood like that , then I felt Bee put his arm around me . I smiled , I may not understand him completely but I knew I cared about him .
But was it love ? I wondered after we got of the bathroom . Unfortunately I still didn't know the answer even when we got home .
