There was a big difference between sparring and a fight that was being held in the fighting events.

She may have been given some experiences of what could be expected from her preparation fights with Max but there would still be a large gap between the real thing and him showing her what to expect.

It became quite clear that Max was not taking it too seriously when he was preparing her for them.

There was a big difference between how he approached the fight compared to those participating in the fighting events.

Max did not want to inflict harm upon her but he wanted her to be able to learn some lessons from their fights so there was a limit to how far he would take things.
