Some could call it a cheat ability for how various series of events could be changed to suit him.

Sloane would not be able to save Harlin but he would be able to summon a blade of Life Energy before he got close enough to the Evil Spirit.

There would be one more charge remaining and he would use that final charge to ensure the success of his strike when he got close enough to it.

All that was required was one opportunity to be close enough without it being able to get away in time.

He was on the way toward ensuring the success of the second charge that he used.
