Every minute felt agonizingly slow for Maya.
She had dismissed Nathaniel's men hours ago and let them prepare the trap. It added to her anxiety that Nathaniel hadn't called to update her since their last conversation.
"It'll go as planned, Maya," Emilia said as she hugged Maya tightly.
They all knew how anxious Maya was.
She had paced across the living room, paced across Nathaniel's office, she spent her time hovering over her son.
Emilia had to pull her away since they were getting on her nerves.
"What if this is a trap for Nathaniel?" Maya dared to ask. "What if we're making the wrong choice and I should have let Nathaniel send most of his people here because this was the major play that Xander and Jay were planning?"
Emilia cupped Maya's face in her hands and looked her directly in the eyes.
