Nathaniel was grateful that Gabriel didn't complain when his mother sent him to their room to rest.
He actually expected the little boy to throw a tantrum and want to stay.
"He's always been too obedient," Edmond said as the door closed behind Gabriel and his nanny.
"Were you as behaved as him growing up, Mr. Rue?" Nico asked Nathaniel with his arms crossed on his chest.
"Actually—" Maya was about to correct her brother when Nathaniel burst out laughing and shook his head.
"He doesn't get his obedience from me, that's for sure," Nathaniel grinned. He decided that like with Maya it would be best to tell his future-in-laws the truth rather than to omit parts of his story.
"What do you mean?" Nico asked with his eyebrow raised.
Nathaniel smiled, this was the exact reaction he was hoping to get from them.
