Bab 41: Dark Market Auction Begin
Ryker and Ina head towards the Dark Market, their gold coins already stored in their storage rings. Besides that, they were also escorted by a bunch of adventurers. He had asked his supervisor for on tips how to protect himself.
The supervisor told him he could put in a commission using the points he earned to get several adventurers to protect him. While the adventurers were weaker than him, they were still useful as a deterrent, to make sure no one would make a move on them.
The group reached the entrance of the Dark Market, before giving a new password, the password changed every week so to go to the Dark Market required a great connection.
The supervisor also warned him unlike regular auctions, the Dark Market auctions never truly end by the time the last item were sold. If the bidders didn't have sufficient strength or backing, another group would attack and kill them, claiming all their possessions.
This difference is the reason only the strongest and most capable people bid, some of the participants would enter the auctions just for the show, and to see if they could pick off anyone weaker than them.
"Mister Ryker, Miss Ina, please stand back, we will handle this scrub," an adventurer, one he had befriended and offered a significant amount of points to escort him said, looking at the thugs surrounding them in disdain.
"You think you can beat us, chump! We have more people than you!" the thug's leader said, before the head of the companions next to him exploded, another adventurer had taken action immediately.
"Let's end this quickly, we should get there as fast as we can to get the best spot," the one responsible for exploding the thug's head said, the rest making their moves as they make quick work of the group of thugs.
The group left, not caring for the dead bodies, knowing there would be people who clean it up. Of course, they took their possession, Ryker claiming all of the coins while the other items, weapons, materials, and pills would be divided between the adventurers.
They agreed quickly. Even if Ryker asked them for all of the thugs' possessions, they would give them, having a connection to a 3 diamonds adventurer and a rising star at that was more beneficial. Who knew if he become someone important to the Adventurer Guild?
Ryker also knew what they were thinking but he didn't mind. Having a connection with other adventurers would not harm him at all. He looked to see a group of guards, watching them. He heads towards them before giving the leader an invitation.
He got the invitation from the manager of the slave market when he visited last week. The man gave him the invitation, saying there would be a limit of 10 people he could invite including himself.
Entering the Dark Market Auction House, he could say that the difference between the one here and the regular one is as different as night and day. Unlike the regular ones, there are no private rooms, instead having seats and tables akin to some restaurant.
With no private rooms, people from powerful families and influential personnel will have to share the same area as the common people, though Ryker thought it might be what the Ijas Family wants, to make others realize even if they have great status, as long as they in the Dark Market, their territory, they were the same in the family's eyes.
Looking at the other audience, besides himself, there were others bringing in guards, though most of them, no, all of them were in the Genesis Formation realm. He wonders why no one with Genesis Condensing realm and above joined the auction.
"Uza, do you know why no Genesis Condensing expert joined the auction?" he whispered to the next strongest in their group after him.
"It's because the auction likely didn't have any items that attract those experts. Besides, the main attraction will be the slave. From what I've heard she was beautiful so it's likely those young masters from powerful families will be the ones to take part, to get their hands on another beauty.
You also joined to get her too, right?" he asked back, Ryker merely nodded, instead focusing on the other participants and seeing if any of them would be a threat.
He had amassed a significant amount of gold coins, around 20,000 gold coins, including one he exchanged from the points he, Ina, and Era earned. He thought his chance was good but hearing they were young masters from the powerful families joining in, the hope dimmed, at least if he didn't use the coins his parents left him but he preferred to not use them for his desire.
"If you worried about those young masters, don't. They likely only have a few thousand coins with them, their patriarch won't give them unlimited funds to spend on some slave girl," Uza assured him.
Ryker nodded, hearing him say it made him realize despite the young master being the one to take over after the patriarch abdicated, their authority was still limited and they would be watched by their elders to see if they would be a good leader or not.
Soon, the auction house was filled to the brim, and some of the late participants were forced to go outside, not even able to enter the place. He was glad that they came early, or that would be them.
"Hello everyone, I hope you are all comfortable," similar to the regular auction house, the auctioneer of the Dark Market was a beautiful woman, wearing clothes that hid little, showing her curves and white legs, an opening on her chest showing a deep valley formed from two peaks.
"Now, with the place full, let's start the auction!" she exclaimed before the first item was brought to the stage.
While most people came for the slave girl, either to bid for her or just to see her, there were still items that would be useful for the participants, so the ones that just came in for the show decided to take the chance.
Despite very few people bidding for the first items, it created a snowball effect, with more and more people joining in, the adventurers he hired also bid for some of the items, with them able to get the items they got due to them being successful adventurers.
Despite not having a sure salary, they were able to amass a great amount of gold coins by taking missions and selling some of the materials they collected to stores. That's the main reason why many people with no great background or weaker ones joined the Adventurer Guild.
As the second last item was sold, the auctioneer gave them a big smile, "Now, the moment all of you have been waiting for, here is today's main attraction!"
