Cad:"No."
Issei:"It has to be done Cad, there is no other way."
Cad:"The fuck it does, you have people for that, and I know that you were trying to test me to see if I would be an ally to Raku when he gets older to take your place, I'm saying that I'm not getting close to any of that."
Issei grimances at my comments.
Issei:"Look, yes, I did do that, but not only I don't want to involve my son in this-"
Cad:"Hah, you don't want your kid to be in that position but you don't have a problem to
out another?"
Issei:"Oh please, if it were a normal kid sure, but a strange anomaly like you, this much is nothing."
Cad:"Thank you."
Issei:"I'm not complimenting you."
Cad:"I know."
Issei:"..."
They were this way in the Issei hospital room when the rest of the gang arrived. It was a large private room that could fit everybody, aside from Issei and Cadmus, Ivy, Leonora, Soe, Ringo, and Saibai were there.
This little meeting was called in place to discuss sharing of secrets, Cadmus and Ivy would tell a little of theirs, and Issei would do the same.
They are doing this because things are getting more and more serious and to plan things forward and to alleviate a little of the worry from the involved. Issei is included because of his dealing with the government.
Even if the relationship is a little sour he still has some contacts and even if the Shades can easily infiltrate in the shadows, doing certain dealing in the light would be much more advantageous.
Soe:"*sigh* Excuse me what is happening?"
Issei:"Oh I was just asking a favor for this brat."
Cad:"*snort* And what a favor it is."
Ringo:"And what kind of favor?"
Issei:"Oh nothing you have to worr-"
Cad:"He wants me to become the new Yakuza boss for his group."
Everybody:"WHAT!!!"
As everybody else shouts Issei again grimaces.
Ivy:"Nice."
Ringo:"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU ASKING FROM A EIGHT YEAR OLD?"
Cad:"Technically I'm about to become nine."
Ringo looks at Cadmus with angry eyes and is about to cry.
Leonora:"This is no laughing matter Cad, do you know how dangerous this is?"
Cad:"And you know what were we doing last night?"
Everybody:"...."
Cad:"*sighs* Look I am not trying to ignore your concerns, in fact, I'm really thankful for that."
Ringo:"Then why don't you take it more seriously?"
Cad:"I am, that's why I called you all here."
Ivy walks to Cadmus's side.
Cad:"Issei-san, you will share with all of us what is that you do for the government."
Issei:"...."
Cad:"And we will share what we went through yesterday along with sharing a part of our secret."
Soe:"A part?"
Cad:"Well, we would need more than a few hours and you wouldn't believe in everything unless we showed you so we will just share the part that will relieve you guys and allow us to move more freely."
Ringo:"....Ok, for now."
Cad:"Yes, for now."
Ringo nods at Cadmus's affirmation.
Cad:"Well you start old man."
Issei:"Hey, why do I have to start?"
Cad:"Trust me, when we are done, yours will be meaningless."
Issei:"...*sigh* Alright."
Issei:"We, the major underworld bosses work as a customs of sorts."
Saibai:"You monitor illegal immigrants?"
Issei:"Not only that, other than everything a normal customs does, we have to take account of the technology they bring and share, keep watch what kind of dealing they have with the locals and if they aren't just overusing their superiority to mistreat anybody or take anyone's chances."
Issei:"We also function as a police of sorts, so if they have any problem with the locals we resolve them, being fair of course as the locals also tend to screw up."
Soe:"Wait, you are dancing around the subject, what do you mean by locals? What kind of immigrants you are talking about?"
Issei:"..Well…"
Cad:"He is talking about aliens."
Everybody:"!!!!!"
Everyone but Issei, who sighs, and Ivy makes a surprised face.
Saibai:"Cad-kun, what kind od nonse-"
Saibai's speech stops halfway through when he sees the ball of fire that appeared from nothing above Ivy's extended palm taking different shapes, from flowers to dragons. Making everyone else, even Issei look astonished at the sight.
Cad:"Yesterday when we went after our suspect, he transported us to his ship in orbit, turns out he had the backing of a dark organization that plans to overthrow the current empire that rules this part of the universe."
Everyone turns speechless at the information that was being relayed to them, normally if someone was saying something like that to them they would think the person is either crazy or was pulling their leg.
The problem was who is the person that was saying that after showing something that shouldn't be natural.
Cad:"I know is a lot of digests but we have other profs, we kept their spaceships."
Silence issues as the other people in the room mull over the new information, Issei about the implications of a dark organization using Earth in their overthrowing the Empire schemes. And the other adults about extraterrest life.
Issei:"Wait, you said that what you guys had to share would overshadow mine, are you aliens too?"
At Issei's comment, taking everyone else from their deep thoughts, Ringo and Saibai look at them with curiosity, looks like they long decided to accept everything coming from Cadmus.
Leonora and Soe on the other hand turn apprehensive, this is their daughter, their blood, could that all have been a lie? Perhaps noticing what he said when he saw Ivy flinching and the anxious look she had on her face, Issei panics a little.
Issei:"Wait, no, I mean…"
Cad:"Way to go old man."
Ivy:"Mom, I-"
Leonora:"Are you our daughter?"
Ivy:"I…I…."
Leonora:"Please answer me, are you our daughter?"
Soe hugs Leonora who was starting to get a little agitated, Saibai and Ringo look angry at Issei who looks down in shame and Ivy is about to cry.
Cad:"Yes she is your daughter, from head to toe."
Ivy:"Cad."
Cad:"It is true Ivy, even with the past, it doesn't take the fact that your life now is also true."
Ringo:"Past?"
At Cadmus's choice of worlds, the tension that was building in the room vanished and everybody's focus got back to him. Ivy was still looking at her parents about to cry.
Cad:"This is one of the reason we were avoiding so much tell you guys the truth, yes, Ivy is 100% your daughter, born from you guys in this universe, but she can also be considered alien."
Everybody:"???"
Soe:"What do you mean Cadmus."
Cad:"Reincarnation."
Everybody:"!!!"
Everybody draws their breaths at the revelation, it was not something one usually would believe but it, made too much sense for the case of kids like them.
Cad:"We were married on our last life and the reason we die was because of her family, she was from a royal family who raised and trained from birth to be a chess piece, and after she married me, a commoner, we were hunted for a long time.
Cad:"So in a sense, you guys are the first real family that she had, that's why she tries to enjoy every little moment."
Leonora and Soe look at Ivy, who was fighting hard with the tears that were still threatening to come out and her scared face. It was the first time since birth that their daughter looked like that, so scared, so fragile.
They immediately when to her in a family hug.
Leonora:"I'm sorry for doubting you, my baby."
Soe:"You can tell us anything, sorry for not believing in you."
Ivy:"Un."
The room gets silent again but this time on a more heartwarming note.
Cad:"See, I told you that they would love you anyway."
Ivy doesn't answer her husband, just keeps hugging their arms with a big smile on her face.
Ringo:"Hey, Cad-kun, and what about you, what about your parents?"
Ringo asks a little anxious.
Cad:"Oh me, I don't have biological parents, I just have you guys."
Ringo, Saibai:"Uh?"
Cad:"Well, it's like this, we changed when we crossed over, as and gained abilities."
Saibai:"WAIT, YOU TWO GOT CHEATS?"
Issei:"Uh? What is cheat?"
Saibai:"WHAT you don't know?"
Soe:"What, I don't know either."
Leonora:"Me neither."
Saibai drops his shoulder in disappointment as his wife pats his back with a wryly smile.
Cad:"*sigh* Is a manga trope, when you die and reincarnate in another world you get a cheat."
Saiba:"THAT'S RIGHT"
Cad:"That doesn't happen."
Saibai:"Hey, how can you say that? You are living proof of this."
Cad:"No I'm not, our strength comes from training and our powers from our privilege, it was not free, we did something to get that."
Saibai:"*snort* See, you got it from good karma."
Ivy:"No we got it from our daughter."
At Ivy's comment, Ringo and Leonora look at her like a hawk.
Leonora, Ringo:"What do you mean our daughter? Do I have a grandchild?"
Cad:"*sigh* You had to say it didn't you?"
Ivy sticks her tongue out while scratching the back of her head.
Leonora, Ringo:"Spill it, where is my grandaughter?"
Cad:"She is watching us ashamed and says that she is not prepared to meet you guys yet."
Ringo, Leonora:"What do you mean?"
Cadmus sighs again and shows his hand and a ring appears on his ring finger.
Cad:"This ring allows us to talk telepathically anywhere, anytime, it doesn't matter whether we are on the same planet, universe, dimension or not."
Leonora:"So that's why you guys are always so in sync."
Cad:"Exacly, our daughter, is powerful, really powerful, and she is always watching us."
Ringo:"...Is she a goddess."
Cad:"Oh no, she is not that weak."
At that comment, no one knew what to say.
Issei:"Since when gods are weak?"
Ivy:"Since Scatach Skadi, the God killer, became one of Cadmus's wives and or teacher."
Everyone:"!!!"
At Ivy's answer, everybody gasps, and Cadmus grimaces.
Soe:"What do you mean sweety."
Asks Soe while narrowing his eyes at Cadmus.
Ivy:"Oh Daddy don't be like that, it was after we died and before we reincarnated, we are all ok with it, Cadmus has three wifes for now."
Everybody:"For now?"
Ivy:"Yep, we plan on increasing this number in the coming years."
Everybody looks at Cadmus with a complicated face, safe for Saibai who had a proud face for some reason.
Cad:"Hey, don't look at me like that, it is their plan."
Issei:"You don't see, that much bothered by it?"
Cad:"*shrugs*'."
Leonoara:"*sigh* Well it is not like you would be the only one in the current era we are in Cad-kun, just be sure that Ivy and Alice are happy."
Ringo:"Don't make any of these girls sad."
Cad:"Leave it to me."
Soe:"But how are you going to spend time with everyone?"
Cad:"Like this."
Everyone:"!!!"
After answering, another Cadmus walks from the one they were talking to, another one comes from the window and another comes through the door.
Issei:"WHAT THE HELL"
Saibai:"Cheat, this guy is a cheat."
Ringo:"Are those Clones?"
Cad:"No, this is a way to use omnipresence."
Everyone:"!!!"
Saibai:"CHEAT, MY SON IS SUCH A CHEAT."
Soe:"I'm starting to get a headache."
Leonora:"I agree, it is too much information."
Cad:"That's why I said, we would only talk a part of it."
Issei:"Wait, there's more?"
Ivy:"This isn't even the tip of the iceberg old man."
Leonora:"Is that why Alice starting training?"
Ivy:"It is, but don't worry, there is not some end-of-the-universe bullshit, is just that we are helping our daughter work and the stronger we are the faster we can do it."
Leonora:"...But it is something really dangerous if you have to be strong."
Cad:"Well yes, but the strength, in this case, would work as a specialization, is like, a programmer in theory could do the job, but if you hire someone that had a PhD in cybersecurity and formerly worked in counter hacking the work would go way smoother."
They were not 100% convinced with the analogy but still nodded in understanding.
Ringo:"Ok, it does take a lot of our worries knowing that you have someone so strong watching your back, but we still want to see her, she is our granddaughter after all."
Cad:"Well that's the issue, Ivy was my second wife, my first had a weak body and we couldn't risk having child, and Ivy…."
Cadmus looks at her as she looks sadly at the ground, not much more was needed to be said.
Cad:"We had many children and all of them are adopted, and that's why Stella is afraid."
Ringo:"...*sigh* Ok, we will wait, but tell her that no matter what she is our granddaughter."
Cad:"Thank you, Mom."
Soe:"What about your other wives?"
Cad:"*sigh* Lisa, my first wife, is more mischievous, she decided that it would be more fun if she and Scatach were reborn on other worlds and we go find them later."
Saiba:"Huh? Does that mean that you can travel to other worlds?"
Cad:"Yes, at any time."
Ringo, Saibai:"TAKE US RIGHT NOW"
Cad:"*sigh* I knew this would happen."
Looking at his parents that had their eyes shining like a child in the candy store, Cadmus couldn't help but sigh but still had a smile on his face.
Cad:"Once we finish with this mess, we all will go to a picnic in another world, how does that sound?"
Ringo, Saibai:"PROMISSE?"
Cad:"Yes, I promise to take everybody."
Ringo, Saiba:"YATTA"
Cad:"Anyway old man, I agree."
Issei:"Huh?"
Cad:"I will take your place temporarily, I will need the power of your connection anyway, I have a few immigrants from last night under my protection and will need to speed them through the procedures."
Issei:"Oh, no problem, with you put your trust in them, I will trust them too."
Cad:"Well, let's end this little meeting here, Issei has to get back to rest and I think you guys can't take any more surprises right now."
Saibai:"Thank god, I need some beer."
Soe:"I concur, maybe we could make our way to a nearby pub."
Saibai:"Lead the way."
Leonora:"Maybe we could get our minds off everything with some shopping."
Ringo:"Took the words right out of my mouth."
Cad:"*cuckle* Rest well Old man, we talk more about it later."
Issei:"Ou"
