Bab 482: The emperor's expectations

Right on cue, the old madam pressed her hand slightly, warning her to be careful about what she said. 

Chi Lian took a deep breath and told the truth, "Your majesty I think the relationship is progressing extremely positively. My brother has mentioned to me personally many times that he loves and cares for your daughter very much." 

She tried her best to sound neutral, brief and positive without being too opiniated because knowing the true thoughts of an emperor was no easy task. She knew that he was hoping to use his daughter to bind their family to his but there were many other princes and wealthy families in this and other empires so it was possible for him to change his mind and terminate that plan. 

"I asked for your opinion." the emperor seemed to be unhappy with her answer from the look on his face. 

Chi Lian looked at Muyang and he nodded, assuring her to speak her mind.
