After the orientation, the newly appointed D-Class personnel are sent to the cafeteria. They are served white slop that apparently has all the nutrients the body needs and a cup of water.
"I miss mom's cooking." Jordan groans as he sits in one of the empty tables. Robert immediately joins his company.
"That was some crazy shit, eh?"
"You're telling me." He pokes the food with the spork.
"I mean seriously. Monsters? They got Godzilla locked up in here too?" An inmate with D-9982 joins in but doesn't engage with them. It's a black haired caucasian. "Sup man! I'm R-"
"Shh. Don't say your name. You never know who's here with us." Jordan warns.
"Ah come on, Jojo. We're totally safe. I mean you saw how they shot that motherfucker!...On second thought, you might be right. I'm D-9876! Nice to meet you." He extends his hand.
"It's pointless to make any connection. We are all going to die sooner than later." He says his piece and eats.
"Oh boy. We got a Debbie downer over here! I believe you only think that way cause you never had a friend. Why not make an effort? We are social creatures, after all."
"I had a group of friends I trusted. Then I ended up here. Now leave me alone."
"Sheesh. Those weren't true friends, fam. I know. Been there, done that. You just gotta keep looking for the right bro!"
"You mean here? Full of criminals, murderers and rapists?"
"My man. Companions can be found in the most unexpected places. A crime record doesn't define an individual."
"Hey! Stop blabbering and eat your food!" One of the guards shouts. Rob grumbles and the rest finish their meal. They are escorted back to their chambers.
At Night
Jordan's slumber is disturbed by the sound of chains rattling. Opening his eyes, he sees a metallic chain coming out of his chest.
"The fuck?" He grabs it. Something startles and begins to growl. Cold sweat drops from his cheek. He slowly turns towards the door. His blood runs cold at the sight.
It is a tall creature wearing a tattered schoolgirl uniform. It's extremely long silver hair touches the floor and covers the eyes. It's humanoid, but it has reptilian feet. The two defining features are the very long and sharp looking black nails and the white angel wings on the back. Contrasting with the terrifying appearance. It snarls at him, showing off its sharp teeth. The chain is connected to its chest.
Jordan's fight or flight kicks in. He can't tell whether this is a nightmare or a horrifying reality. They stare at each other for what feels like hours until the monster starts approaching him. He is hyperventilating and scurries to the corner. Jordan doesn't want to scream in fear that it would agitate the creature. He closes his eyes, praying to wake up soon. The thing towers over the poor man, panting close to his face.
Then silence. Jordan opens his eyes and the monster is nowhere to be seen. He checks his chest and the chain is gone.
Unnerved, he stays up all night.
The Day Breaks
Jordan is still trying to process the events, when the door opens. James and a guard step in.
"Good morning, D-9834." He sits on the toilet and the door closes behind them. He pulls out a clipboard. "How are you feeling today?"
"Not well."
"And why is that?"
"I just had a nightmare and couldn't sleep."
"I see. Can you describe the nightmare for me?"
"Look Jam-"
"It's Dr. Parker. You will address me as such." He states coldly.
"...Dr. Parker. You worked with my dad before, right? Can you tell me more about him and what he used to work for?"
"Alexander Lopez. You remember that man?" He asks the guard.
"Wasn't he the quack doctor that was a laughing stock of the facility and stole important documents to further his research?"
"He what?" Jordan can't believe it.
"Now answer the question. I have other meetings to attend." James says.
"...I was reliving the incident. You know? Being traumatized by the event and having night terrors." He answers. James is suspicious and writes it down on his notes.
"That is true. Anybody would be going through that. I'll appoint a therapy session for Wednesday. Today in the afternoon will be your first assignment." He hands him a piece of paper. "Remember my lesson and it will go smoothly." He stands. "By the way, have you heard anything strange last night?"
"Can't say I do. I was too afraid to notice."
"I see. Thank you for your time and have a pleasant day." They both leave and walk down the hall.
"You were very caring there, Doc." The guard says.
"Do not misunderstand me, Sam. This is a new program the Foundation is implementing. Nothing more." He says his piece and enters another chamber.
Containing the fame
Guards escort Jordan to SCP-173's containment chamber. The other three D-Class are Robert, D-9982 and D-8534.
"Keep your eyes on the door." One of the guards instructs. They do as they're told as the door opens. The inside resides a single statue which they studied to be 173. The room is filled with blood and shit.
"The task is simple. Two of you will clean the chamber and the other two will keep an eye on SCP-173. Remember to take turns to blink." A scientist says through the intercom. Jordan and D-9982 grab a mop and a bucket, while Robert and D-8534 are in charge to watch the statue.
"Really? This is one of the monsters? It looks like someone's art project." Rob comments.
"Hey! Take this seriously. I will count when I'm about to blink and you do so as well." D-8534 instructs. Jordan and his partner are cleaning the mess, while the other two are watching the statue. "I'm about to blink. One, two, three."
At the same time, D-9982 slips on the floor. Jordan and Robert look at the fallen comrade. They all hear a sickening sound of a bone breaking and quickly turn to find D-8534 on the floor with his head twisted completely to be facing his back, with the statue next to him.
"What the fuck!?" Rob shouts out of shock. The door closes. "Don't lock us here!!"
"Keep looking at it! You finish cleaning while I watch this thing." Jordan rushes towards it. They nervously do their tasks, which is hard knowing there's a dead person.
"Fuck fuck. It was only for a second." Rob is freaking out.
"That's all it needs. Now stay focused if you want to live. I'm about to blink." Jordan counts down and blinks. Nothing happens. He sighs in relief. Something stirs from within him. The monster from before crawls out from his chest. Jordan is paralyzed with fear at the situation. He expected everyone to freak out, but no one reacts to the monster's presence.
"I-I'm about to blink." Robert announces. The monster is sniffing the statue and recoils with disgust. It starts moving the statue around. "AAAAH! IT'S FUCKING MOVING!!" The monster grins at his reaction and carries it towards Robert. "Oh god! Have mercy! I've already suffered enough!" He shuffles into a corner and cries.
"Hey you!" Jordan shouts at D-9982. "Fuck the cleaning! We have to watch this thing from killing us!" He nods and they watch as the monster keeps taunting Robert with the statue.
If no one else can see it, that means it's invisible to everyone but me. I have to do something! Jordan is trying to think of a plan. The door opens with security personnel.
"Secure the Class-D personnel and contain SCP-173." One of them says. The monster puts the statue down and growls at them. She readies her claws.
"Careful! It's about to attack!" Jordan shouts. The monster charges and slices one of the guards in half.
"Open fire!" They start shooting at the general area where the death occurred. Bullets faze through it. Due to everyone being focused on the immediate threat, they break eye contact. SCP-173 tries to attack Jordan. In a blink of an eye, the monster slashes the statue away, sending it flying against the wall.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON!?" Rob is having a mental breakdown. The monster yawns and jumps inside Jordan. He frantically checks his chest. They are quickly escorted back to their chambers.
