Bab 31: Chapter 31

Editor: Dragon Boat Translation

The man's gaze was somewhat overly intense, making Jiang Moxi feel uncomfortable.

So, she spoke up to break the silence, "Are you planning to bribe me again? Offering money or a house to be your sex partner?"

Fu Youhan promptly stood up, approached Jiang Moxi, and pulled her waist, bringing her into his embrace.

"Indeed, I was thinking of doing that. Will you agree?"

He lowered his head to look at her.

Amidst the dance of light and shadow, her face appeared flawless, without a visible pore in sight.

Her enchanting eyes were enough to make any man want to dote on her completely.

After tasting the sweetness, he really wanted to possess the pleasure she gave him.

But he was also aware that his fascination with her was purely physical.

He wouldn't mention love, let alone promise her those unrealistic things.

As for Jiang Moxi, she was even more clear-headed than him.

She directly pushed him away.

"With those conditions, you can find a more suitable sex partner than me."

As she spoke, she found her clothes from yesterday and took them to the bathroom.

When she used the bathroom, she happened to discover a washer-dryer combo.

After a straightforward setup, all that remained was to wait for the clothes to be washed and dried so she could wear them.

"You have forgotten about me once the lesson is over?"

Fu Youhan teased, following behind her.

Witnessing her in his white shirt, with her straight long legs and her actions both nonchalant and graceful, she exuded charm in every conceivable way.

"I've already repaid the favor," Jiang Moxi said as she set up the washer-dryer, and Fu Youhan suddenly pinned her against the bathroom wall.

From such close proximity, the man once again took in every aspect of Jiang Moxi's unmasked beauty.

Her face was truly exquisite, charming to the core when she smiled, touching the deepest parts of his heart.

And now, without a smile, she seemed to have distanced herself to the extreme, as if they were strangers.

"So, everything that happened last night was just to repay a favor?" His voice suddenly turned cold, carrying a thin trace of inexplicable anger.

"Not entirely," Jiang Moxi replied, gazing back at the man. She felt as if God's favor towards his exquisite features was palpable, even causing a faint ripple within herself.

In reality, aside from repaying the favor, what motivated her even more was the feeling he brought and the peaceful slumber she experienced last night.

"If you enjoyed last night's affair, I wouldn't mind setting up another rendezvous when we both feel inclined," she expressed candidly, thinking it could be an arrangement to satisfy them both.

However, as soon as those words left her lips, she noticed a frigid glint in the man's eyes, as though they were instantly covered in millennia-old ice. Even his tone resembled freshly fallen snow on a branch. "Do you maintain such relationships with several men simultaneously?"

Her mind froze for a moment, realizing his implication. "You don't need to know."

Because it was only him.

Yet she felt that discussing such matters with Fu Youhan might lead to unnecessary misunderstandings. He viewed their connection as devoid of romantic emotions, and so did she.

Thus, as she spoke, she pushed him away once again.

The unpleasant conversation left Fu Youhan with no desire to linger in the room any longer. "I have some business to attend to. Please remember to close the door when you leave."

Jiang Moxi's gaze fell only on the LCD display of the washing machine as she coldly replied, "Understood."

Fu Youhan grabbed his suit jacket and departed.

Their conversation concluded without even a simple "goodbye"...

--

On Monday, Jiang Moxi arrived at the classroom early to take a nap.

During the third class, Ling Ye came in with two cups of milk tea. He first attentively handed one cup to Li Xue'er, exchanged a few caring words with her, and then approached Jiang Moxi.

Having rested for a few hours already, Jiang Moxi was feeling quite refreshed. So, instead of reacting with annoyance, she simply said, "You don't need to buy milk tea for me in the future; I don't like it."

"Not a fan of milk tea? Then what do you like?" Ling Ye inquired.

One must show gratitude to benefactors, after all!

However, Jiang Moxi glanced at Li Xue'er, who was observing them from the corner, and replied, "I don't like anything."

But it seemed that Ling Ye didn't grasp her sincere intentions and continued, "You don't have to be formal with me. I've noticed you seem to enjoy cookies. I'll bring you cookies from now on."

Every time Ling Ye visited Jiang Moxi, he would find cookies on her desk. Over time, it became difficult for him not to associate her with cookies.

Hearing Ling Ye's generous offer and seeing Li Xue'er's eyes rolling to the sky, Jiang Moxi's lips twitched a few times.

It appears that some individuals are destined to remain single despite their exceptional qualities!

At that moment, Ling Ye asked, "Moxi, you helped Hua Hua last Saturday evening, right?"

"She told you?" Jiang Moxi showed no particular emotion.

"Yeah, she mentioned someone surnamed Jiang, and I guessed it was you. You are the only one who is so righteous!" Ling Ye greatly admired those who were righteous.

So even though the entire school considered Jiang Moxi ugly and rejected her, he was determined to be her friend unconditionally!

"I'm not righteous; my intentions were impure," Jiang Moxi confessed.

She wanted to repay Fu Youhan; it wasn't as noble as Ling Ye made it sound.

Now that she had fulfilled her obligation, everything between her and Fu Youhan was over.

Last night, when she went to the Nightless City for a part-time job, Fu Youhan didn't show up again.

Yet Ling Ye said, "While some may perceive you as unattractive, your character is truly dependable and trustworthy."

Jiang Moxi was speechless.

That wasn't exactly comforting.

At this moment, Ling Ye suddenly lowered his voice and asked, "By the way, why did you go to Nightless City so late at night?"

Jiang Moxi replied casually, "To do part-time work."

"There are plenty of places for part-time work, but you shouldn't go to Nightless City. It's not a good place," Ling Ye said, still keeping his voice low, afraid that others might judge Jiang Moxi unfairly if they knew she was working there.

Similarly to his suggestion of avoiding Nightless City, Ling Ye's intention was to watch out for Jiang Moxi.

But Jiang Moxi responded, "The pay at Nightless City is high."

"Are you in need of money?" Ling Ye frowned.

"Yeah, if you know of any other well-paying part-time jobs, please let me know," Jiang Moxi requested.

Two days ago, she received her salary and transferred all the money to the hospital account.

Yesterday, she assisted that individual with a minor surgery, and the money was nearly depleted.

There's another major surgery coming up.

So, currently, Jiang Moxi's need to earn money is quite pressing.

Ling Ye wanted to ask further why a student like her needed so much money, but then the class bell rang.

He could only say, "Alright, I'll inquire and see if there are any suitable options for you."

Then, he hurriedly left before the professor entered the classroom.

In the evening, as agreed, Jiang Moxi went to the old mansion of the Jiang Family to attend Old Madam Du Yuke's birthday banquet.

The Jiang Family's old mansion was located in the outskirts. Although called an old mansion, it had been rebuilt into a grand modern villa. The originally quaint and charming old house was transformed into an imposing and magnificent residence.

The front and back yards were adorned with precious trees, adding a sense of grandeur to the house and the people living inside.

The patriarch, Mr. Jiang Tairan, and Old Madam Du Yuke had four children in total: Jiang Guosheng, the eldest son; followed by Jiang Dinghai and Jiang Jianzhong; and their youngest daughter, Jiang Ruxin.

When Jiang Moxi arrived, the second son, Jiang Dinghai, and his family had just arrived as well.

Among the Jiang Family members of this generation, Jiang Dinghai was considered the most successful. He had remarkable abilities, and Mr. Jiang gradually entrusted the Jiang Family's affairs to him.

Jiang Dinghai tied the knot with Zhao Guangmei, the adored national goddess who was actively involved in the entertainment industry. Since they married at a young age, their twin children were three years senior to Jiang Moxi.

Their daughter, Jiang Yuqing, bore a striking resemblance to Zhao Guangmei and was currently a rising star in the entertainment industry.

Their son, Jiang Fengmian, had already entered the headquarters of the Jiang family for work. His girlfriend came from a prestigious background and was also working with Chi Jing, holding a prominent position within the Fu family.

The housekeeper, Yao Yi, first noticed Jiang Moxi walking over from a distance but quickly averted her gaze and warmly welcomed Jiang Dinghai's family...
