Bab 12: Chapter 12: Kulu-Ya-Ku
I get out of the boat and look at the map that I print in my pocket dimension. The map shows me the monster's behavior and the location it usually stays in the game. Not only that, but I also make sure to study this monster's weakness and their moveset.
"Let's go!"
I shout and ride on Hina to our destination, with Kuku on my shoulder, sniffing if something is happening around us; we start exploring the area.
I also ensure not to let my guard down as we look at our target. I widen my eyes when I notice something and quickly stop Hina.
"Meowster?"
"Kuku, I need you to slowly and sneakily climb that tree. I need to confirm something. Look to the north and tell me what you see."
"Yes."
I wait for a minute before Kuku comes back with a serious expression.
"What do you see, Kuku?"
"Monster, meowster! A big one!"
"Is it Kulu-Ya-Ku?"
"No! It is Basarios!"
Basarios… What do I know about it? Not much. What I know is that Basarios is a flying wyvern that releases fireballs at its enemy or prey. Basarios also have thick and boulder-like hides that can take a lot of damage.
Should I try and defeat it? I don't need to ask for the ship's palicoes to help carry the corpse of the monster I hunt. I can put the corpse into my inventory and call the palicoes when we are in the safe zone.
"Hina, we need to move around it. Make sure to do it silently. We don't want to attract its attention."
My companion nods their heads, and we slowly but surely walk around the sleeping monster. After we are far away from Basarios, Hina increases her speed. We explored the Sandy Plains for almost an hour before finding our target.
I can see a monster resembling a Velociraptor but with a feather on the side of its arms and on top of its head.
I get off of Hina's back and say.
"Alright. We found our target, and it is time for the hunt. Hina. Kuku. I need the two of you to prepare and attack it when I open the attack with [Wyvern Ammo]. Prioritize reducing its movement. Kuku, use your steel string, and Hina, your chain."
Seeing them nod, I load my weapon with [Wyvern Ammo] and say.
"Kuku. Hina. You two go from the left and make sure not to get too close. When I fire my weapon, you two jump forward and hold its movement."
"Yes"
I nod and slowly get close to the sleeping monster. I quickly hold the trigger and charge my weapon when I'm close enough. My Heavy Bowgun glows in power, and after a few seconds, it is ready to be fired.
I release the trigger, and my weapon releases a hot plasma on the monster's head. The monster starts to scream in pain, and my companion springs into action. Kuku takes out her weapon and throws it to the ground around the monster. This is a kunai with a steel string tied on the end of it.
Kuku jumps around, ties the monster, and then puts another kunai to the ground.
"Great job, Kuku! Now, switch!"
"Yes, meowster!"
I jump high and land on the Kulu-Ya-Ku. I point my gun at its head and release another hot plasma. I widen my eyes when I see the monster turn red.
Oh-ho. It is going berserk!
I quickly jump high and land on the ground a few meters away from the monster. However, as I land, the Kulu-Ya-Ku is already charging toward me.
"Meowster! Watch out!"
However, before the monster can reach me, Hina takes action. She runs forward and throws one of her dual-bladed chains, which Kuku grabs and then stabs to the ground. Hina uses her mouth to stab the chain into the ground and uses her body to make it deeper.
The monster did not see the chain and fell to the ground when it tripped on the chain.
"Good job!"
I reload my weapon and press the trigger once again. I run at the Kulu-Ya-Ku and jump toward the beast that falls on the ground. When the ammo is ready, I release the trigger. Another explosion happens, and I land on the ground.
I can see my weapon get hot and know the special ammo is ready. I take out an empty ammo and get it inside. I can feel the heat get absorbed by the empty ammo and see it become really hot.
I lay on the ground and carefully aimed at the monster, stunned by my constant attack. I press the trigger, and the special ammo flies toward the monster. It hit a headshot, and the ammo stuck into Kulu-Ya-Ku's head.
After a few seconds, the ammo explodes and creates a massive explosion. This is the [Wyvernshipe] ability that my weapon has. The weapon will build energy for each shot that can be stored inside a special empty casing.
The stored energy will improve the speed of the bullet and explode after a few seconds.
I see the monster sway for a few seconds before falling to the ground. I smile a little and walk slowly to the corpse. I poke it a few times, and seeing it did not move, I nod.
"Meowster! We did it!"
I laugh a little and let Hina and Kuku jump at me. I hug them and spin them around.
"You know what it is? It is time for celebration! Let's eat!"
I hear Kuku cheering while Hina is panting with her tail moving fast. I store the corpse inside my inventory and take out the food for this celebration.

"You don't need to worry, Tsukuyo. He will be back."
I look at my sister in all but blood and nod my head.
"I know. I'm just worried."
I have done my patrol in the frontier and am about to eat some lunch when I notice that Terry has yet to come back. So I came to Hinoa and asked for him. It looks like he has yet to finish his mission.
"And it is okay to worry about your boyfriend."
"B-Boyfriend?! I'm not!"
Hinoa gives me a small smile and says.
"Of course, Tsukuyo. Of course"
"What with that tone?! I'm not his girlfriend…"
I say that with a low voice. Of course, I will not be his girlfriend. Terry is handsome, can cook delicious food, and his massage can send someone to heaven! There is no way he wants me as his girlfriend.
"Ouch! What was that for?!"
I look at Hinoa, who just slaps my head with a frown.
"That is for thinking something negative. You are beautiful, Tsukuyo. You are also kind, good with animals, and good with kids. He is lucky to have you. Don't look down on yourself, Tsukuyo. Have a little faith in yourself and get your man."
I look at Hinoa for a few seconds and smile. She is right. I can do this! Hunter's life is a short one, and I don't want any regret in my life.
I snap from my thoughts when I hear a cheer coming from the dock. I get up and see Terry return with a massive Kulu-Ya-Ku behind him. I quickly ran and jumped at him. He catches me and looks at me in confusion.
"Woah! Careful there. What is it, Tsukuyo?"
I grin at him and say.
"Nothing!"
We might not be able to meet in the morning or afternoon, but I will ensure we spend a lot of time together in the evening. Slowly but surely, I will make him mine!
