Bab 9: Chapter 9

"Geodude, Rollout,"

Bob was outside of the Pokécenter, training his Pokémon. After that match, he could not resist.

"Dude," Geodude grovelled, tucking and rolling towards his target.

With a heavy force, the rock type bashed into his opponent.

"Cynda!" Guts had taken a big hit. He was getting bruises and swelling on his body.

Geodude returned to its starting position.

"Geo?" He had a concerned look on his mean face, as he was worried about going too far.

Guts only shook his head and stood tall, making sure to expose himself.

"Keep doing that," Bob spoke as with reluctance, Geodude rolled again.

'Now some training with the other two,' He took out two pokéballs and released the two pokémon.

"Pidgey!"

"Spinarak!"

Dio looked at Spinarak with curiosity, while the bug returned the look with a frightened glare.

"Don't worry, Spinarak," Bob told him, "Dio's a friend,"

After Dio bowed at the bug type, he relaxed.

"and a sparing partner," Bob added, looking at the pokédex, "I need you two to unleash moves on one another, and Dio,"

He turned to look at the flying type.

"Go easy on him," Dio nodded.

So both of them made some distance.

"Dio, Gust,"

Spinarak looked anxious and was hit full-on by the wind. He stood up again.

"Spinarak, String shot,"

"Spin!" The bug type let out a splash of silk, which stuck to Dio's wings.

"Nice work," Bob let out.

Dio was a bit ticked but didn't mind.

However, looking over at Geodude hammering Guts with Rollout, and seeing the determination on the fire type's face, was enough to ensure spite.

So he got the silk off himself and was waiting for the perfect moment.

"Dio, Tackle,"

Spinarak groaned.

"Spinarak, Absorb,"

Soon, green orbs floated from Dio towards Spinarak. Dio grew more cross.

This continued for about an hour, with both of them exchanging blows. One enjoying the fight, and the other holding a grudge.

"Spinarak," Spinarak cried, feeling tired, but ready for an attack.

While watching this, Bob felt the Pokédex vibrate in his hands.

He looked down and saw the notification,

'Pidgey has learned Wing Attack!'

'Interesting,' Bob thought, 'so training can help a pokémon get moves.'

"Dio, use Wing Attack,"

Hearing this, Dio wanted to try the new move, as to one-up the struggler not too far away from him.

"Pidgey!" He squawked, his wings having a whitish aura around them.

Spinarak had big eyes, but that did not stop Dio.

As he flew forward, Bob saw his wings look to almost break through the air.

With Dio's spite and irritation, a wing bashed full force into the bug type.

When he landed, Dio huffed. Bob checked on Spinarak.

"Really, Dio?" Bob spoke, returning Spinarak, "I did say you must go easy,"

"Pidgey," Dio mumbled.

"Well, at least you learned a move, good work for that," The flying type showed a happy demeanour with a smug grin, acknowledging his awesomeness.

Then, the Pokédex replied.

Bob looked again.

'Geodude has learned Rock Throw!'

'Cool,' Bob turned around, willing to see the rock type throwing a rock.

He did, as Geodude was in the process of lobbing a rock, but he was hit by a wheel.

A wheel made out of fire.

Another vibration.

'Cyndaquil has learned Flame Wheel!'

"Checks out," Bob said to himself as the two landed.

Guts looked pissed off as always, but the fire disappeared as he realised what he had done.

"Cyndaquil?!" He shouted, hoping Geodude was alright.

The rock type was on the ground, but he floated back up and gave Guts a thumbs up.

"Geodude," He smiled.

Bob looked at Guts, who pretty much needed a rest and multiple trips to the Pokécenter.

"You need a rest,"

However, Guts wanted different.

He went near Bob, trying to tell him that he could train more. However, his head collided with a pokéball, and he went in it.

'You've trained enough,' Bob thought, placing the ball in his bag, 'I will train some more,'

"Still want to go, Geodude?" He asked.

"Geo!" Geodude replied, nodding, or moving up and down.

Bob turned to look at Dio.

Despite Dio looking away, he could see his eye was twitching, and the flying type looked aggravated.

'He must be jealous,' Bob thought, standing up, "Dio, time to train,"

The flying type sighed but flew to Bob.

The training did not last long. As soon as Dio realized why Geodude was about to throw a rock at him, he pretended to faint.

Bob only shook his head, knowing what was to come.

"It's you and me, Geodude," He said, returning Dio, "show me those rock throws,"

"Geo!"

The next day, Bob stretched and got out of his bed.

'Didn't know training was a time killer,' He thought, 'Geodude was doing the same move over and over, yet I watched intently the whole time, what's wrong with me?'

He rubbed his head, 'Oh yeah, my bag,'

With that, he looked in his bag and found a bundle of money.

'This is more than last time,' He thought, flipping through it, 'wonder if my bag will overflow if I fight too many trainers,'

Getting ready, Bob walked out of the trainer room. He needed to sign up for the league first.

"Hello, what can I do for you?" Nurse Joy peeped as Bob walked to the counter.

"I would like to register for the pokémon league," He replied, stopping.

Nurse Joy nodded and began typing on the keyboard next to her, staring at the screen.

"Your registration is complete, Trainer Bob," She spoke again, "it will be 100 Pokédollars,"

Bob was taken aback by this. He thought there would be more to it, like getting a picture taken and whatnot. The bigger problem was the fact that she knew his name.

He just complied and placed the cash on the counter not wanting to know how that worked.

"Professor Elm had notified me in advance for your registration," Nurse Joy spoke, smiling again while placing the card over the counter, "so there will be no long process,"

Bob nodded and picked up the card, which was his trainer license, with his name and a picture of himself.

"Thanks," He said, walking away rather quickly.

"Hope to see you again," she said, bowing.

'Weird,' Bob thought, walking out of the Pokécenter, 'but it is what it is,'

Even with that bizarre exchange, Bob had something else going on in his mind.

He was on a mission to the Pokémart.

Once he entered the store, Bob ignored the pokéballs and went for the potions.

Reaching the counter, he dropped them on it, some falling to the ground.

After waiting for a while, Bob handed the money to successfully purchase the goods.

With a smile and a slightly bigger bag, Bob walked out of the Pokémart.

'Okay, first the book,' He thought, taking out his record book and a pencil from his bag, 'then the first gym,'

With a flick of the cover, Bob stopped at the records.

He sat on a bench and began to erase.

The pencil worked like a charm, its eraser edge slicing the life of the words away like a sword cutting through flesh. Right after, the nib scribbled, guided by his hand, creating a new life.

After he was done, Bob pulled the pencil away and saw what he wrote.

___

[Guts] Cyndaquil: (1-1-0) (1W Streak)

[Dio] Pidgey: (4-0-0) (4W Streak)

Geodude: (0-0-0)

Spinarak: (0-0-0)

___

Bob decided to write down Caterpie and Weedle after that but didn't acknowledge them as they were in the storage.

'Sheesh, I really used Dio,' Bob thought, closing the book, 'but the other records will fill,'

With the book and pencil in his bag, Bob walked, trying to find the city's gym.

Nearly tiring his legs out, Bob saw the building.

It was bigger than the building around it and had the sign 'Violet City's Pokémon Gym' on the front.

Bob gripped one of his legs, 'Thank God they have these signs here.'

Either way, with his pokémon rested, Bob grew excited.

'This will be my first gym battle, wow,' He thought, walking to the door, 'I can't wait,'

Reaching the range of the automatic doors, they opened.

But, they also released a feeling that pressed down on Bob.

The glare from a pokémon trainer.
