Cael took his storage book out of his pocket and thumbed through his many bookmarks. Finally, he found the one he was looking for.
On the page was drawn a small box. Cael took it out and lifted the lid, showing Ginevra a pair of golden rings with matching pearls. Unlike most peals, these had a rare sky-blue coloring.
Ginevra's eyes widened. "What are these? I sense magic. And… are those glyphs on the inside of the rings?"
"Our wedding bands." Cael rubbed one gently. "Since I had the means, I chose something both beautiful and practical—just like you are. These rings will allow us to sense and talk with each other no matter where we are. They also could be attuned to a mana pool, after which they become impossible to lose."
"Beautiful and practical…" Ginevra repeated quietly, a charming blush coming over her cheeks. He glanced at Cael. "You fit this description, too. Now let's exchange them like we were supposed to a while ago."
