"Yes," surprisingly, she responded with resignation.

Arn suddenly felt a pang of guilt and softened his tone. "Have you already been assigned a master?"

"Yes. He chose me to be his property when I was seven years old."

Arn's heart sank upon hearing this. He couldn't imagine Lavatri being under the care of a master who might not treat her kindly.

Arn continued to crouch at the doorway, facing Lavatri with a warm smile. Their contrasting postures, with Arn's large Gamaaloth body and Lavatri's petite half-elf frame, created an endearing sight.

"Do you like your master?" he asked, adopting a tone as if offering a piece of candy to a child.

"A healer girl doesn't have the right to express preferences," Lavatri replied, seemingly unaware of Arn's playful tone.

Arn laughed. "That was before you were under our protection, the mighty and generous Gamaaloth."
