During the party…
Azula pov
Sitting down with Ty Lee on a separate table from the rest of the royals I noticed that Mael was being swarmed by both boys and girls, but knowing him he wouldn't try anything against them as I'm sure he has an interest in me. Another reason is that non of them are better then me, they can't even compare, so off course he wouldn't pick them.
As I continue my conversation with Ty Lee she suddenly gasps. Turing around I see a sight that shocks me, Mael was holding an older girl by the waste whist holding her chin in the other hand. I watched as his lips began to approach hers but right before they connected a scream pierced the ball-room.
" Mael sol! I challenge you to Agni Kai!" A young noble of what I assume to be 15ish shouted. All of a sudden I clicked into place, Mael must of saw the boy's frustrations and played onto them for his amusement " as expect of mael would never fall for such a person." Looking again it girl he had now released. I couldn't help but be shocked by the udders she possessed. Patting my chest I muttered aloud by accident " mine'll be better" turning back to Ty Lee she looked at me dumbfounded before busting out laughing.
A sharp glare was all it took to silence her.
Zuko pov
Their I was sitting with Mai when I heard a shout reverberate through the hall. "Mael sol! I challenge you to Agni Kai!" Both me and Mai looked at each other shocked before turning towards the source of the commotion.
It was a a teenager and one that appeared to be trained I wasn't worried for Mael, I looked at the fool that challenged him and all I could feel is pity. " I feel sorry for that person, mael is seriously no joke when it comes to fire bending. He's a prodigy even I look up too." turning to mai I could see her nod before responding " it's true even people around 20 years old wouldn't stand a chance against him. He's about to ruin his life"
Mai's flat voice convade no tone of worry for ever Mael or the boy who challenged him. Even so their was a small trace of amusement radiating off her.
Iroh pov
Although you could say currently I was on holiday Azulon couldn't help but discussing current affairs from the Ba Sing Sa front. Just as we where about to get into a more serious part of it we hear someone shout. "Mael sol! I challenge you to Agni Kai!"
Someone had challenged mael to Agni Kai initially I was panicked until I saw who initiated the challenge. I could only look at this child with pity since Mael had the strength of someone who had bended for at least 20 years. "Haaaa " letting out a sigh I continue "that poor child has doomed himself for failure" Azulon made no comment as he had never actually seen Mael bending.
Ozai pov -
After the announcement was done I set my plan into motion. I had done my research previously, I knew people would swarm Mael for opportunities and could use this for my advantage.
One such example was a child named Sandril, he was deeply in love with this blonde girl but made no effort to produce results. In short he was a coward.
Sneaking through the crowd I arrived behind the boy. Leaning down i spoke "you are Sandril correct, one of the people recognised as a genius firebender in your generation. Well I wouldn't worry for long soon your title will be taken" pausing for a moment he responded in panic "what do you mean who is greater then me" pride oozed of the boy and it was greatly amusing to see Arrogence in one so young and weak
. " quite simply he will take everything you have. Your glory, honour, even the one love and pursue"
This seemed to send the boy into a little rage standing up it appeared I was noticed by Mael, he also noticed the raging boy beside me who was looking at him taking to a blonde girl. I frownd as my plot had been discovered.
However, what happened next shocked me. Mael grabbed her by the waste and pulled her chin towards him as if he was about to kiss her. Just as he was about to seal her lips a cry, shrill shout passed through the enraged boy.
"Mael sol! I challenge you to Agni Kai!" That boy mael was amusing seems he can get on other nerves as well not just mine. His actions are concerning however. This means when scheming I must be more cautious.
After the challage was excepted everyone moved very quickly towards the royal arena.
Mael pov - at the Agni Kai
Azulon was the referee for this match, the old man must want to see me in action more carefully.
" combatants ready, begin" as he finished a cannon sounded In the distance.
At the sound of the cannon my opponent immediately tried to destroy me with a stream of fire which was produced by a three rapid punches. Truthfully it was pitiful.
Copying the exact movement as Sandril I released my azure coloured flames it shocked all the nobles ans exclaims of awe where released form most. except the royals although they already knew.
As my fire overpowered his it forced him to jump to the side, the colour of my fire greatly shook my opponent causing his last second dodge. Expelling flames from me feet I quickly clear the distance between us to find he was begging to stand back up I sucker punched him in the throat and did a low kick expelling even more fire to scorch his lower body, albeit lightly.
Looking at him again whist he was struggling on the floor it was pitiful. It took around 20 seconds to get back onto his feet. Sandril was to exhausted from taking my his earlier to do anymore then that.
The fool was panting heavily but this match had gone on long enough. Delivering a precise kick to his sternum he once again feel to the sandy ground, his breathing once again becoming increasingly raggid.
I placed my foot on his chest and looked into his eyes, Before I could even speak sandril shouted out in rage " ITS ME!" his voice was breaking from my previous hits
" I AM THE GUNIES! the one who should have everything! not you! The princess and eventually the throne! I was supposed to be the greatest in this!… in this generation" He voice grew quieter as I continued to look into his eyes the gravity of his situation beginning to set in. Treasonus words spoken before every member of the royal family and more then 70% of the nations nobles. Even if I spared him, he'd die anyway.
Removing my leg I stared at him for a second. I'd already decided, in my new life the life I take will be his. Not out of hate, anger or anyother emotion. What I'm about to do is a mercy, all out of pity.
Moving my right hand over his chest i releases a stream of fire. He began to scream as I burned his entire upper chest along with his arms and neck. Increasing the output and using both hands he quickly turns to ash. Killing in an Agni Kai is typically frowned upon but not forbidden.
This however was a special occasion.
Turning to the rest of the nobles some looked at me with shock others respect but one thing they had in common was fear. " I am mael sol, I will be the one to stand at the pinnacle of man. I shall be the greatest fire bender in history. " my tone prideful almost as if it was innate. What I didn't know however was that the head of a lion appeared on my back albeit faintly and only for a moment.
As the medics rushed out to save the boy I walked over to the royal stand and took my seat nexted to Iroh. " big words from such a young man. I do not doubt your talent but can you back it up with the dedication and hard work?" Looking at my father I couldn't help but smile. " of course dad, I'd never disappoint you. However after my ninth birthday could I assisted in the conquest of Ba sing Sa. " stroking his beard for a moment before reply " very well but only after nine and if you kept up with your training." Nodding at this I could put my plan into action.
