Bab 66: Promise - Part 1

"Wife?" Irene's mind exploded at the term he had used and she attempted to pull away from him. However, she could not move much and remained in his arms as she stared at him interrogatively.

"Yes, wife." Kieran acknowledged. "I am so happy, Irene. After decades of waiting, you finally returned to me."

Irene's brain was a mush and she could not comprehend what she was hearing. She stared at him blankly, silently wondering if he was a lunatic. 'How can I be his wife? He must be crazy. Yes, he is.'

"I know what is running in your mind, my sweet." Kieran's smiling eyes were filled with sadness instantly and he became dispirited all of a sudden, making Irene feel bad for him. It hurt her to see him hurt and she could not perceive why.
