Bab 45: Let's prepare to leave

It was pretty early, I couldn't exactly fall asleep last night, thoughts still raced around my mind about that shadowy figure that just appeared in the house, did I make the right call? Did I overreact? I just can't tell what the right answer was.
I decided not to let it completely bother me, I will take my mind off things and finish packing up for the trip that's planned ahead, I've always heard rumors about that ruined empire, and it would be cool to see it for myself since I never got a chance, I've spent most of my life in the end after all!
Okay, all finished, I tied up my purple bundle and sat it on my bed, I don't exactly need to pack that much since Takeo practically owns his own pocket dimension.
I looked out my bedroom window to observe my chorus trees, the harvest is looking great lately, who knew chorus fruits grew so well in the overworld!!! I haven't even had the need to go back to the end in ages, which was a good thing, because teleporting all the way other there taxed my body, and I'd have no choice but to rest for a long while.
The sun was starting to rise, oh! It's time!
I teleported from my room to the lookout watchtower that Takeo built in his base. I usually got up early to watch the daybreak, the skies looked beautiful at this time. There was no time in the end, so the skies were always a darkish purple, an ugly atmosphere for my tastes.

It was no longer dawn, and I was getting ready to leave the tower, but before I turned away I saw someone approaching, a familiar face sneaking under the village walls, judging by the white hair I quickly realized who finally returned, the skeleton girl Rei! It's been a while since she left to find something for Takeo, I didn't exactly learn what it was, but I am rather curious, I better go and greet her!
I teleported down the tower and immediately greeted Rei with a Patting Hug, thrilled to see her back at our base. It was always difficult when a group member was away for so long, even though she doesn't really live here, I still feel like she's part of the group in my eyes!
I was eager to hear all about Rei's adventures.
"Rei, it's so good to have you back!" I exclaimed, squeezing her tightly. "Where have you been all this time?"
Rei returned the hug, her slim arms wrapping around me in a warm embrace. "Long time no see Teles" She pulled away and explained
"You see, I was trying to get a horse for Takeo," she explained, her voice tinged with a hint of exhaustion.
"It took a while, but I finally found one."
I tilted my head, "It took weeks to just find one?"
"Well, it wasn't exactly that reason alone that made it take so long."
"Hmm?"
"I had to meet up with the other survivors from my city, we are still investigating our issues with that drowned demi monster!"
"Oh right, he's still out there huh?" I said in an uneasy tone
"Unfortunately yes, he's always on the move, it's impossible to track him completely, and even IF you find him, he won't go down easy, he could take down 3 of us in one sitting if we don't engage him correctly," Rei explained
"That's terrible..."
"Yeah, so that's why we're trying to get back to the empire, so we can find the other citizens who were turned into skeletons!"
"And are you sure the residence is even still there?"
"To be honest, I'm not, they could've all burned in the sunlight, or wandered from the city, but I won't know completely unless I go try!"
I nod in agreement
Rei pointed over to the secret passageway she built
"The horse is tied up in the forest by the tunnel, I couldn't exactly bring it into the village without people trying to attack me," she explained
I nodded in agreement "Yeah, better play it safe, these locals can really switch up on you."
"I'd say we leave through the secret passage for the trip, afterwards Takeo can just bring the horse into the village himself. I tried, but I can't get any horses through these tunnels, they refuse to go in!"
"Makes sense!" I said, "Come inside, let's go wake up Takeo then!"
"Right behind you," Rei replied
We enter the base and make our way to Takeo's room, I decided it would be best not to bring up anything that happened last night, and just let things go until they really escalate, but for now, my main focus is trying to help Rei get back to the city. However, I know it's going to be a long trip since I've been all over this area and I haven't even heard of this empire before being told!
