Bab 23: The hunt for diamonds
Rei and I continued to enjoy the springs I made, I told her a bit about my experiences of the world I came from before I was sent it to Minecraft, of course, I didn't tell her the fact that this world was based on a game cause that would probably make things weird.
"Woah, so you have floating islands, where there is random loot in chests, and you spar with other people for training?" Rei said surprised, "what happens if you fall off the islands?"
"then you are eliminated from the match, don't worry, no one actually dies from any of this, you could play this sky game as many times as you want!" I said
"hmm, the world you came from is fascinating, I never had any information about the 'Otherworlder' people before, just theories about them," Rei said
I looked at the time and realized I couldn't stay here forever, I wanted to go to the mines so I can craft the thing I was trying to make. I decided to end our conversation and get prepared.
"yep, sorry I gotta cut conversations short, I got other things I need to do today, you can stay here longer yourself if you want to of course!" I explained, "maybe you can tell me something else about the skeletons tomorrow." I said as I slowly raise up from the hot spring pool.
"Of course I- WHA-????" Rei shouted as she saw my chest, turning bright red.
"hmm? What's wrong? in here too long?" I questioned
"YOU'RE A BOY????" Rei said in shock
"WHA- hey now I'm more of a man, also I thought you knew that from the beginning!??!" I said more insulted than embarrassed
"NO, why would I get in a bath with someone I just met otherwise!!!" Rei shouted back at me
"aww come on...."
Rei then ran out of the area and sprinted out of the village into the forrest
"well that could've gone better, but hey! no comeuppance" I said as I got dressed and went into the mines while looking at my appearance in the water.... do I really not look manly? What does Teles think? Ah forget it, I had better things to do! (;-;)
My goal is to find diamonds, not to upgrade my gear, but it is needed for my experiment. I need to find at least 5 to make this work, I needed 3 for a diamond pickaxe and 2 for a specific block called the "enchantment table". Enchantment tables are blocks that allow you to enhance tools and armor in unique ways, you can make a sword have the ability to set things ablaze, you can give armor the ability to survive explosions or books to have their own separate abilities, and so I needed this table to test what I can enchant so some things can be easier.
To craft the enchantment table, you need 3 things. 1, A book (I already have that) 2, 4 obsidian blocks, and 3, 2 diamonds. This is why I need a diamond pickaxe, so I can collect obsidian to craft it.
In the mines, I began tunneling down, with a stair technique, because everyone knows you never dig straight down in Minecraft. I ended up finding a cave deep enough to where diamonds would spawn, PERFECT.
I collected Lapis, and gold as I traveled through the large cave, using my iron sword, breaking cobwebs and fighting back against the monsters I found down here, placing torches down with the coal I found too.
I searched for some time, but I guess there were no diamonds in this cave, man I wish I had x-ray, but I don't think stuff like that worked in this world. I did find some lava pools and decided to collect the lava in some buckets I brought with me, I could always make more lava farms. That's when I saw something blue and sparkly, and no it wasn't one of those plant block things that always LOOKED like diamonds at first glance.
I actually found a vein of 3 DIAMONDS!!!! YES! I proceeded to craft a diamond pickaxe and placed a water bucket on the nearby lava pool, I mined a ton of obsidian... man breaking this stuff alone takes forever... still doing it...
OKAY, now the last thing I need for this recipe is 2 more diamonds and I'm home free, but while searching I had no luck, I guess I need to find a new cave... That's when I turned around to see a green mutant silently approaching behind me, WOAH its a creeper, I could of course use the rush n retreat strategy I used my first night here, but in an enclosed cave that's kinda hard, I ran away and with the leftover wood and iron I had, crafted a shield and braced for impact, sure explosions used up a ton of the durability of the shield, but it beats getting caught in the actual explosion, Creepers are prone to killing you in 1 shot.
BOOM! I was knocked back a little, but thanks to my shield, I was able to take little to no damage from the creeper, but there was a big crater from the explosion, and you would never guess what I found, go on, guess! There were more diamonds underneath the stone! most caves are like this, there are always diamonds deep down, but sometimes they are deep into the stone blocks, sure sometimes you can find them in caves, but that's always kind of hit or miss.
I found 4 more diamonds, which are more than enough to complete my enchantment table, I then decided to make my way up to the surface and return to my base.

I was pretty tired that night, I could also see Teles fast asleep in her room tired from all the tasks she did today. I went ahead and placed my new enchantment table around a bunch of bookshelves, now Bookshelves are an optional thing for enchantment tables, but they increase the chances of getting better enchantments, so I decided this would be the better call.
When I went to bed I was still a bit disappointed I never heard from Rei, but hopefully, she cools down soon and opens up to me soon, and now that she has a way of getting to my base, the chances of that happening and doubled, I even placed plants around the tunnel so no one would get suspicious of how she keeps getting in and out, but I do hope she stays safe because, with this enchantment table, I can actually help her a lot more than I normally could.
